I do find the lack of black metal discussion around here disturbing.

We could always just talk about shitcore bands instead. You know, the ones that are like, almost metal, have guys in their 20's, but they have the whiney, emo vocals with the high pitched guitars, and then they're like " MUTHAFUCKA HARD CORE BREAKDOWWWWWN ".

Eh? Eh?

Blasphemophagher.

Quite good black/death from my country. Don't let the gay name put you off.

http://www.myspace.com/blasphemophagher

It should attract Angelcorpse fans mostly. Even if they are a faster version.

This is something I've been thinking asking on the forum for a while.

That's a good idea. Post-2000... I'll have a thinky.

Given that we are over halfway through 2009, I'd be interested to see lists of people's top 10 death and black metal albums of the decade. Perhaps we could use this thread for that, among other things? The premise of it is sufficiently vague to include such a thing.

I'd have to think about mine for a while though.

I'd have to hear the new Immortal album before making any decisions on that one.

Top 5 Death Metal Albums of 2009 so far:
1. Cattle Decapitation - Harvest Floor
2. Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles
3. Behemoth - Evangelion
4. Ulcerate - Everything is Fire
5. Gorod/God Dethroned, probably Gorod

Black Metal yada yada:
1. WITTR - Black Cascade
2. Cobalt - Gin
3. Altar of Plagues
4. Saros
5. Funeral Mist

Discuss? That post-2000 list would be difficult.

Best Black Metal releases of the decade

1. Everything by Dso
2. Some Blut Aus Nord
3. Sons of Northern Darkness, and hopefully the new one by Immortal
4. Weakling - Dead as Dreams
5. Wolves in the Throne Room!
6. I'm liking very much Pensees Nocturnes, but I dunno if it's an essential album, we'll see in 4 or 5 years.
7. Coldworld!
8. Both Moonlyght albums.
9. Last two Forefather's albums, especially Steadfast.
10. Negura Bunget - Om

And if we're counting all genres, Lost Horizon!!!!! The amount of metal people who aren't into Power Metal and likes LH is astonishing!

I'll have to check carefully my collection to make a nice list. Good idea btw, this threads are good for it's quite probably that we'll find something that we haven't listened to.

Negura Bunget and Drudkh, how could I forgot them! I agree with Blood in Our Wells as the best Drudkh album, but I prefer Om regarding Negura Bunget. I thought too of Mystic Forest, I like very much Romances, but I dunno if its one of the best albums of the decade yet...
Nice list Dago, your taking into consideration all metal genres, right?

Traced in Air is the best metal album of the decade, IMO, although I dunno quite who will be eating its dust yet.

I agree about the new Cattle Decap, its honestly the best they've ever done everything just sounds so much more pristine then in their past releases. The production compared to Humanure is godlike hah.

My buddy just turned me on to some Skinless and Brain Drill, somehow I have missed out on these guys. Pretty solid. Gonna get a hold of an album here soon when I get back home.
