| Post subject: | Hit or Miss: Meshuggah - None (their famous 1994 EP) |
The only Meshuggah album I own (weird, I know, since it's an EP), and I love it. It definitely makes me interested in checking out some later Meshuggah works. My favorite song is Ritual, but pretty much all five of them are awesome. So, for those of you who own it (or own the Contradictions Collapse reissue, which contains four of its five songs), whadaya think of it? |

Hit. Check out Contradictions Collapse for similar Tech-Thrash, and Destroy Erase Improve for when they started getting truly mechanical and awesome. What's the song that isn't on the CC reissue like? Aztec-Two Step, if I remember correctly? Never heard it. |

What's the song that isn't on the CC reissue like? Aztec-Two Step, if I remember correctly? Never heard it. It's an interesting blend of noisy guitar feedback and screaming, with a bit of a dancey beat in the background. After about four-and-a-half minutes, there's dead silence (save for a few seconds of screaming at about the 5:30 mark) until the very end, where you'll hear what sounds like machine gun fire for about two seconds. |

Cheers. I think I should just warn you, relistening to the None songs I do have, that both CC and DEI are less "Alt-" than these. CC is much Thrashier. |

I find it interesting that Meshuggah released the Selfcaged EP just six months after this. And then they released DEI about two months after Selfcaged. I'm assuming all three albums were recorded around the same time, so I'll bet Meshuggah was definitely pleasing their fans with so much music in just one year. |
