I've been listening to Dawn of Demise - Hate Takes Its Form a lot recently. Great album. Could you guys recommend me some other bands in that vein?

Suffocation? Isn't this just generic death metal? Maybe Bloodbath, Obituary or Vital Remains?

I'm familiar with all those bands. Suffocation is definitely an influence on Dawn of Demise. I don't see the similarities with Vital Remains however.

I've never heard Dawn of Demise so was just guessing.

I have only heard a few tracks from dawn of demise but they seem to have a similar sound to bands like hour of penance, benighted etc etc. That isn't really my favorite style of death metal but those two bands seem to be highly respected so you might like them if you haven't already heard them.

I will go ahead and recommend Immolation to you even though they sound nothing at all like dawn of demise, but great death metal is still great death metal. If you aren't already familiar, start with unholy cult :D

Benighted is indeed a great band. Never heard of hour of penance. I'll have to check them out.

Hmmm. You could try Deeds of Flesh, Disgorge (US), Scrambled Defuncts... Those are a little heavier than Dawn of Demise or Suffocation though.

A +1 to hour of penance BTW.

Immolation is underrated as hell.
