Recently i have really gotten into melodeath. I have listened to soilwork, in flames, scar symmetry and light this city. My first question is what other great bands are there in melodeath? My second question is What album by in flames should i get next? I have the jester race, whoracle, come clarity, soundtrack to your escape(what a shitty album) and a sense of purpose.

Hello man... For the faster side you should get:

The Crown - Deathrace King
THe Crown - Possessed 13
The Scourger - Dark Invitation to Armageddon
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul

and:

The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
Children of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll
Anything by Dark Tranquility
Diablo - Eternium
Dimension Zero - He Who Shall Not Bleed

Also, for the next In Flames albums: Colony and Clayman.

I second Wintersun. If you dig that and Scar Symmetry's harsher vocals, you're ready for the next step, into 'proper' Death Metal, hearing the melodies buried behind the brutality.

Of course, early Arch Enemy and Dark Tranquility's entire back catalogue will serve you well if you want Melodeath.

fragments of unbecoming is a lesser known band that plays this sort of style, anythng by dark tranquillity is worth getting.
The Funeral pyre is a band worth checking out as well

I'm not really into melodic death usually, but Skyfire is one of my favorite bands. Gardenian is also pretty good.

I'd recommend Arsis. Leans more on the technical side but definitely melodic. Arch Enemy 'Burning Bridges' or 'Doomsday machine' is what I would recommend.

I wouldn't consider The Crown as Melodic Death Metal, they have a much Thrashier sound than what I would call Melodeath.

But I would definately reccomend Slaughter Of The Soul. It is incredible. I didn't think too much of it when I first heard it when a friend let me borrow it a few years ago, but I kept hearing songs pop up here and there, and by the time I bought the album last year, I was in absolute love with it. It's savage. Just give it time, because it's an amazing album.

Also, check out Arsis, because they're better than most, if not all Melodic Death Metal bands out there today. Give "A Celebration Of Guilt" a try.

Basically Arsis should be on the top of your list.

I agree with most of the posts here, and thought I'd take this opportunity to do some shameless self promotion!
