I finally got my hands on an actual copy of Between Two Worlds, and upon listening to it, I don't get it. I thought the point of making a supergroup was to have your own unique sound. Yet Abbath and Armagedda completely dominate the other members, and even Demonaz himself wrote the lyrics! So I find myself asking, why even sever Immortal in the first place? Just to make a supergroup that would have a 95% Immortal sound to it? Abbath doesn't even alter his vocals, the riffs are the same cold, punishing lines that made them famous, and the drumming is straight from Damned In Black I mean, Bloodbath doesn't sound like Opeth. Zyklon doesn't sound like Emperor. So what gives? Good CD, by the way. |

For starters, the line-up is different. Maybe the other members were not that important in the creative process, still, they surely brought their little something to the album's sound. Second, maybe Abbath & Armagedda didn't want to release just another Immortal album. The band appears to be on some sort of hiatus and, maybe, they wanted something "new". And new it is. The music on Between Two Worlds is a mix of heavy metal and black metal, it's Immortal turning to good ole heavy. Third and finally, did you notice the stupid make-up was gone? That alone marks a definitive new start for Abbath and Armagedda. The future will tell us if it's a brand new start for two Immortal members or just a side-project recorded for fun which would have been no problem since the album is, indeed, fun. Ho, by the way, did you notice that I was the first letter of Immortal? Funny, heh! ![]() |

It was heavy metal and not black metal, therefore different. With a fanbase like black metal's had they not changed their name, the shit would've hit the fan. |

So what? I really love between two worlds... actually first i heard BTW and loved it and I was talking to one friend about it and he said "If you like I you should check Immortal" (anyway it was in 2006 when Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath "were my world" XD) and I listened Sons of Northern darkness and noticed the similarity... anyway... I think that BTW is a good "step from everyday" |

Yeah, it was a different genre. Now, if you'd have said what was the point of Cavalera Conspiracy... |

Yeah, Between Two Worlds has a really epic feel to it, despite the cold-sounding guitar-tone. I don't really get that same feeling from Immortal albums. Enslaved's Ice Dale undeniably brought his own style to the band as well. It's actually one of my favorite albums at the moment. |

Jeez, I'm sorry, I didn't realise that topics needed your personal approval. Cryptopsy dropping a member is quite interesting, no? |

calm down children. Personally, a new I would make me warm and fuzzy inside. I thought they did an excellent job of crossing black/viking/heavy metal. It worked perfectly and to this day is one of my favorite albums. |

My last post was pretty laden in the sarcasm. I really don't mean to harass you though. |
