The Gathering, easily. Then Practice What You Preach and then The New Order. |

The Gathering = One of the best thrash metal albums of the 90's. You soooo need to get that one. After that, get The Legacy and especially Practice What You Preach for some classic bay area thrash. Get The Ritual for a great early-90's heavy metal album in the vein of The Black Album and Youthanasia. Get Low for a solid (if IMO somewhat overrated) Machine Head-like groove/thrash metal album. And then get Demonic for an interesting mid-paced death metal album. |

Souls of Black always gets a bad rap for some reason. It kicks ass. Basically, none of their albums really disappoint. The first 4 are undeniably solid gold thrash. The Ritual is a good listen if you don't mind a more mainstream metal/black album style sound. The rest of the 90's albums are heavier and deathier, but still thrashy, and good if you're into that sort of thing. And Formation of Damnation is good too. Basically they're all good and the one you should purchase depends directly on your preferred style of sound. |

I think First Strike Still Deadly is a great place to start. |

Since the 90's were a desert for thrash metal, that really doesn't mean much.imo the Gathering has some good songs, and some shity groove thrashers. And by the way, were are the solos?what the hell was James Murphy doing? imo,The Legacy>PracticeWYP>The New Order>Souls of Black>Low>The Gathering>The FormationOD>Demonic haven't heard The Ritual in almost 14 years, but i remember it's quite boring...actually i find all their albums boring except for The Legacy, which REALLY kicks ass. |
