so far not bad. the vocals are pretty meh and the chorus transition on the first song sucks but there's some really awesome guitar playing. production kicks ass too.

i'd be loving if it was half as long and had a different singer. srsly nobody wants like 70 minutes of thrash. i'm so glad i finally go to hear the RIPPING YOUR VEINS OUT AS I KILL YOU FROM WITHIN song though

Not good.. Downloaded it the other day.. This sucks, even if they try to do something new. Do they try to be the Iron Maiden of metalcore/thrash?

This is boring. They can play the shit out of the guitar but can't write a song to save their lives. At least the vocals have improved, from shitty to terrible.

Ascendancy was better, but it was CORE, the music of Satan.

could have been, I just thought of the last Maiden album clocking for over 70 minutes... Dunno if Death Magnetic does the same.

This is one of those bands that IMO is not worth even checking out.

The only good song they wrote was the one with King Diamond on the Roadrunner United cd.
Its a shame they are a VERY talented bunch of musicians. Their last album was a step in the right direction (I hated the vocals on the one before that with the emo like choruses and the screamo vocals). I haven't heard this one yet so I cant judge.

I probably won't check this out. I didn't give The Crusade a listen, though I didn't mind a few songs off of Ascendancy.

I've only heard four songs that are legally available and it's decent material. I find the music entertaining, although nothing ground breaking. The singer actually got better so he's a lot more tolerable for those sensitive to that issue, so not everything is as bad as you guys say.

I understand the band doesn't appeal to everyone but saying Ascendancy is metalcore is not 100% correct.
Ascendancy and even Shogun (well so far) have much more in common with Thrash, Melo Death than with Metalcore.

BTW. the Iron Maiden cover is almost as good as the original - if not even better.
