Alright now if I get something wrong with the genre here, forgive me.

I'm looking for some solid brutal death suggestions... I really enjoy bands like Benighted and more recently after reading Zad's reviews for Origin and Detrimentum and checking out the albums I've found I really dig the genre from what I've heard so far.

Anyone have any suggestions for me to check out? It's appreciated.

You like more melodic stuff so I think you'll really enjoy Akercocke and Vital Remains. They're brutal enough.

Cryptopsy! (oh I have to say old Cryptopsy sadly)
Akercocke (great clean vocals and growls)
Odious Mortem
Nile
Behemoth (brutal enough?)
Decapitated
Vital Remains (seconded)

All of these bands I wholly endorse. Necrophagist always seemed like the Dragonforce of death metal, incredibly skilled but lacking emotion and the human touch.

Many of the suggestions here are not really brutal death, the Octavarius' list is nice...
I'd like to add...
Scrambled Defuncts
Prostitute Disfigurement
Brodequin
Devourment
Impaled
Vile
Defeated Sanity
Iniquity
A special mention to the already mentioned Hour of Penance... Best band from Italy, ever.

Hmmm, I thought you didn't like CC?

You can't go wrong with ANY CC really, it's all fucking awesome.

It clicked a while back. Death Walking Terror was my moment, look for the video, Evil. You should aso, of course, check out all the oldschool bands like Obituary, Morbid Angel, Deicide etc. And no-one's mentioned Mithras or The Monolith Deathcult, which is shocking, as they're both great bands.

Behemoth and Crionics are two of my favorites.

Yes. By many considered a brutal death metal classic. Not my favourite but still a good album

I spoke to Corpsegrinder when they played here and he was like "Yeah, I'm just glad it's not too many songs off the new record we're playing tonight". I appreciate the fact that he wants to keep the old school fans happy, but this isn't Iron Maiden we're talking about, because CC are actually still the shit.

Basically, one of the most consistent bands around.

THE STRUGGLE IS USELEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS

Cannibal Corpse never really caught on with me, Zad. More of a Dying Fetus kinda guy. Look forward to your Wormed review though.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do love Necrophagist, Vital Remains, Crionics, early Suffocation and Decapitated. Gonna look into the rest of what you guys suggested.

Appreciate it. :D

Forgot to mention Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death, both of whom put out some damn good Death Metal. Gorod are awesome too. And Corpsing. And Dam.

Also
Internal Suffering
Pyrexia
Lykathea Aflame (melodic brutal death)
Cephalectomy-epic brutal death/grind with some black metal elements
the last one is a 23 minute long song, i don't think any brutal band has ever written a song of such lenght.
