Post subject: Three new Anthrax songs posted.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:28 pm
Anthrax posted three new songs from their live show in Chicago (coincidentally, I just came back from Chicago yesterday).

The new singer's growl really doesn't sound very Anthrax-y (he really sounds more suited for a band like Exodus, except when he's clean singing), but this definitely sounds promising.

Umm, are they serious about this Phil Anselmo rip-off?

No thanks.

I've mainly been a belladonna kinda guy with anthrax, and unfortunately, I can't say this stuff is doing too much to sway me....

But i'll definitely give the album a chance when it hits.

EDIT: P.S....did anyone else see Supergroup and think "Is that Scott Ian...? How the mighty have fallen...."

In my opinion, everyone involved in this band was very mighty indeed for a short period between 1985 - 1990 with a certain vocalist on board.....

But that's just me!

Belladonna pwned. This guy needs to get pwned. He's shit, and 'Fight 'Em Until You Can't' what the fuck man? Worst song title ever, it sounds so weak! Fight Until we Die on the other hand, that's good shit!

Yeah I saw some of that Supergroup, weak as fuck.

I really liked John Bush, but this guy doesn't do it for me. Also the song quality doesn't help, ill check out the album eventually, since i listened to every Anthrax release till now.

You know, this could sound good with a better production. The new album could be alright. Just dont have high expectations, and it may surprise you/me.

That's a damn good point. The old "audience recording" should never be used to judge the quality of any song.

Ok, it really sounds a little bit like Phil Anselmo, but it also sounds a little bit like Sacred Reich - and at least it sounds more like thrash vocals than the Belladonna Power Metal screams...

Belladonna's vocals are an acquired taste IMO. When I first bought and heard Among The Living back in May of 2004, I found his whole singing style to be really cheesy (especially after getting used to John Bush's vocals on We've Come For You All - my first Anthrax record). But after listening more to his music with Anthrax, I have to admit that his singing actually does fit the band's softer (well, softer than Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth at least) and less serious style of thrash metal. Plus, he has that "Urban white boy" attitude typical of New York City-based punk rockers (he being largely influenced by classic punk), which I like.

Belladonna pwns you. Only shit thing he ever did was that failed wail in Caught in a Mosh.
