Post subject:  My thrash collection (in entirety...)

Ok, so i've decided to make a list of my whole thrash collection, alphabetically by band name. I realise probably no one cares, but that's ok. I'm doing it because I feel like it, and if anyone is interested that's just a bonus.

The list is just proper purchases. No downloads, no burned from friends. Just actual discs purchased from stores or the net. Also, in order to prevent an impending argument, i'm omitting metallica's albums post "justice", even though I have them. Also ommitted pantera except for "cowboys" :D

Agent Steel - "Alienigma"
Annihilator - "Alice in Hell"
Annihilator - "Metal"
Anthrax - "Spreading the Disease"
Anthrax - "Among the Living"

Hatchet - "Awaiting Evil"
The Haunted - "The Haunted Made Me Do It"
Heathen - "Victims of Deception"
Hobbs' Angel of Death - "Satan's Crusade"
Hyades - "And the Worst is Yet to Come..."

By my count, 87 officially purchased thrash albums.

I'm guessing if you also counted all the other metal cds I own from all the various metal genres, all combined there would only be another 80 or so. And it would be mostly traditional (lots of maiden and priest and sabbath albums) with a couple death metal albums and a few power metal albums. I dont really do any other genres.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

But I have a decent idea of what I still need from looking around the net.

I just haven't got all the money and time in the world (not yet anyway....)

I'm working on it, the list is in constant evolution. Your suggestions are all on my "to get" list. Along with plenty of others. Aside from the time/money issue, the other thing is finding them. It can be a serious pain in the ass for albums that have never been re-issued.

Man I thought that you were one of those guys who had like every thrash album ever. HA. But still thats a good collection, lots of albums on there that I dont have but are on my "to get list".

I counted out my thrash albums and I have exactly 150 thrash albums. My collection also contains other genres than thrash, my total number of albums is pretty high, but I know there are people on these boards with huge collections...

I have exactly two thrash albums; Ride The Lightning, and Master Of Puppets. And sometimes I think that's all I need.

No matter what, whenever somebody starts talking about thrash you always come in and say how we dont need to listen to any other thrash than what you like. So what, you dont like thrash as much as us, why do you constantly have to tell us that? We (better yet, I) get it. For the most part I have been ignoring you when it comes to comments like these, but I shall remain silent no more. Get over yourself.

Haha! Sorry to disappoint! But I am working on it!!! Soon enough I'll be that guy....

My actual collection of CD's is probably around 500, but I was a classic rock and hard rock fan for years before metal, so it's mostly that stuff.

Oh, and in reference to tankard and coroner, again: working on it!
The only thing between me and those bands is finding the bastards! I guess they don't have the biggest fanbases in Oz.

EDIT: I was just on the website for this place called rare records about 30 minutes drive from my place that sometimes has some good thrash....it seems they've gotten in a copy of Coroner - "Mind Vortex" on CD, original german pressing. 2nd hand obviously. They want $30 Australian for it. Which is about $28 US. Is it one of their better albums? Is it worth it?

It also needs more Morbid Saint and perhaps Obscurity's Damnations Pride EP

28$ ? I didn't buy any cd by that prize...
Have you tried buying it on any online shop? Sure it will be less expensive.

Mental vertex is a great album, as all Coroner. My favs are No more color and Punishment for decadence, being Mental Vortex the third.

Because without me, these sorts of threads go into full blow-job mode.

I've been listening to Tankard a lot recently- I know DW talks about them often. Anyway, I just got a double cd of Chemical Invasion and Zombie Attack, which I love.

Ah, looking back I see this has already been mentioned, but I'd like to back it up anyway...

Honestly, with a few exceptions (Ghosts Of War and Silent Scream, for example), I think it's more of a "heavy metal" album.

Yeah, I could look for it online, but then it would incure international shipping charges.

Keep in mind that I haven't found a single coroner album anywhere I've looked so far. Not one! That makes the price seem a little bit more reasonable...

Oh, and south of heaven is *so* thrash! I agree with maybe countdown to extinction not being thrash, but south of heaven definitely.

UPDATE:

I just checked on Amazon. Coroner "Mental Vortex" is $11.98, then with shipping to Australia, it costs a total of $22.07.

So it's less than $6 cheaper, and then I have to wait like 2 - 3 weeks for it to get here from the USA.

Does that make the $28 I mentioned before seem any more reasonable?

Anyway, so I've got advice from ganesharules about which coroner is best..so..DevotedWalnut....advice on tankard please?

I'm not at all knocking the quality of South Of Heaven (it's one of Slayer's best albums IMO - in fact, I might even like it a little better than Reign In Blood). I'm just not really sure it's fast or aggressive enough to really classify as a "thrash metal" album. The songs are just too melodic and mid-tempo to really be "thrashy" IMO. Not to mention the fact that Tom sings during most of the album rather than screams. I'd lump it into the same category as Testament's Low: a groovy heavy metal album with a definite thrash influence, but not a full-on thrash metal album.
