I'd say Abducted or Fourth Dimension and then work your way
forward. If you're into old death metal, check out the albums before
it too.

"10 Years of Chaos and Confusion", a good compilation that will allow you to see which period of the band is your favourite.

The Self Titled is a good way to start oh and just so you know it's not their first album it's their sixth.

Hypocrisy is one of my favorite all time bands, even better live to.

I would recommend you check em out in this order:

the final chapter
hypocrisy
virus
abducted
into the abyss
the fourth dimension
the arrival
catch 22
penetralia
osculum obscenum

10 Years of Chaos and Confusion is alright, but I don't think the re-recordings do the songs from the first two albums justice. They sound like exactly what they are, which is new Hypocrisy playing old Hypocrisy, but hot damn I enjoy Osculum Obscenum quite a bit. It's roughly a million times heavier than say...The Arrival. I guess it depends on what you're going for. And I'm not really at all familiar with "middle" era cds, I suppose. Virus seemed quite good, but I didn't listen to it a whole lot. The Arrival is alright melo-death type stuff, and their first two cds are much dirtier.

I didn't realize that was out I'm curious as to how that turned out.

I'm a big Hypocrisy fan... I'd go with The Arrival, Abducted, and Virus to start out with... In that order.

Virus is actually a pretty good starting point for Hypocrisy. Especially since some copies came with a godly DVD that encompasses the band's entire career. Virus itself is one of my favorite Hypocrisy albums, it's as heavy as a sledgehammer yet wonderfully melodic all at the same time.

Plus, it has Horgh! Who doesn't like a little Horgh mixed with thier Hypocrisy? :dio:

No idea. I have neither. I only have about five Hypocrisy albums. I didn't realize Catch 22 was considered terrible, either.

I don't think it's terrible myself but it's not their best work and most metalheads refer to it as " nu metal ". I'm interested in how the remix turns out but I don't think there's any possible way it could totally redeem it in the eyes of most. We shall see.
