What are your fravorite Melodeath bands and albums?

My fravorite albums are:

At the Gates - Sloughter of the Soul
The Haunted - Made Me Do It
In Flames - The Jester Race

I also like

Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Bdom Dark Traquility, EToS, Kalmah, Nightrage, Norther and Soilwork

Am I missing any great Melodeath bands? What else do you think I would like?

Try the new Arghoslent. Not melodeath per se, not Gothenburg anyway, but fairly melodic. Very heavy metal inflenced.

I love it. Probably their best album yet. Was well worth 6 years...

Arsis own all melodic death bands... and I think it'll remain that way for a while.

Arsis - A Celebration Of Guilt, A Diamond For Disease, We Are The Nightmare
At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours
Dark Tranquillity - Character, Haven, Projector, The Gallery
Daylight Dies - Dismantling Devotion
Estertor - Between Silence And Light
In Flames - Lunar Strain, Subterranean, The Jester Race, Whoracle

That's really it. Melodeath was more of a stepping stone than anything, though I still listen to it on occasion...

Do you mean a stepping stone for Brutal ("Propper") Death Metal?

I also listen to all kinds of extreme Metal from Nile to Behemoth etc. (I don't know many of the underground bands though, because I live in Istanbul Turkey, where you are considered almost a wild beast if you listen to Metal) but I think I like old school melodic death the most.

Yes, yes, that's exactly what I mean. Without melodeath, I doubt I would've ever gotten into the death genre as a whole. I owe it that much.

Arsis ad infinitum.

And Arch Enemy but only the albums Burning Bridges and Doomsday Machine.

The Duskfall - Source

My favorite album and one of the best melodeath albums I've ever heard. Their first one, Frailty, is good as well. Avoid Lifetime Supply of Guilt like the plague it is.

For me Dark Tranquillity is the best of all things melodeath, but I enjoy many other
bands such as Hypocrisy, In Flames, Darkane, Arch Enemy, Zonaria, At The Gates, and Carcass (newer).

Som of my favorite albums are:

Dark Tranquillity - Character, Haven
In Flames - Clayman, Whoracle
Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin
Darkane - Rusted Angel
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Carcass - Heartwork
Hypocrisy - Virus
Zonaria - Infamy and the breed

Never had the chance to check Arsis out, but since most of you mention them it pushes me to do so.

Hornets of the Pogrom is possibly the best melodic death metal album I've heard.
