OK, I need your opinion/explanation/whatever. While I was in Zagreb one guy told me something like "You can't understand Kreator, you're just too young to understand them" Then I go wtf? So I'm asking you what is, or is it something about Kreator that I could not understand and that I'm too young to listen to that? |

I think they are pretty easy listening. |

Probably just the "I'm older and have been listening to metal longer than you (aka: The 80s) therefore it gives me every right to be condescending towards you," mentality. Also known as "Kids these days!" It's also kind of a bunch of crap. (edited because I can't spell) |

I think what he's saying is that back in 1985 there were very few bands doing what kreator were doing. I don't mean just thrash, I mean the way they do it. Now that there are a ton of bands putting out better material (lets be honest at least) in that genre it is entirely possible to listen to Kreator at this stage and not understand why people thought they were so good. It's the same deal all around really. Metal has gotten so genre specific and has a rich talent pool in the last 10 years that its easy to forget that there were only about 3 quality bands per genre in the 80's. Modern Power Metal guys typically don't care about Maiden the way the guys that grew up with them do. That's just how it goes. Time goes by and 10 better bands replace the old band that typifies a genre. That is probably the line of thinking here. Eventually all classic albums become the status quo and eventually become middle-of-the-road as music organically grows, evolves and bands start to become more economical with the music they put into their songs. I see this happening all the time. Songs have gotten lean and mean. No wasted riffs or musical notes when in the past there was a lot of filler and all-around boring shit going on in a song. |

Haha, wow. Maybe it's what Adverser was saying, or maybe the guy's just an asshole. |

Irony you bitch, we meet again. Yep. Three quality thrash and NWOBHM bands in the 80s. The golden age of thrash was in 1997, as we all know. And to answer the original question: He sounds like a pretentious douchebag. Kreator is for all to enjoy. |

Yeah, we all know old Kreator, Overkill, Maiden or Mercyful Fate were all filler and boring shit. You must be living in some alternative universe. |

I think someone would basically have to be a producer to get what i'm saying. Music is much denser now and much less repetitive and bears much better with repeat listens. Maybe that is just me. Its a very strict timing thing. Back in the 80's they would hold a riff in the pocket for a good 20 seconds, now, they wouldn't without changing tempo or key or something. |

Considering how many genre's there were in the 80's, even still I can't name more than 30 or 40 really great bands from that era at all. There's still bands that release a good album or two. But greatness like "master of puppets" greatness, or "don't break the oath" greatness. I don't think so. |

Or would you have to be a producer to understand? |

Actually i am pretty sure the riff masters come from the 80's. |
