so they're playing Nottingham on the 18, and i'm thinking of going. are they good live? do they play a lot of RiP songs? admittedly that, along with Peace Sells (...) is the only Megadeth album i heard, along a with a few songs from other albums.

EDIT - nevermind, they're sold out. i'm not going to fucking London to see them, it'd cost me like 100 quid between the concert, train and underground tickets.

They are good live. Mustaine tends to look pretty disinterested and doesn't put much into his vocals anymore, but they play a pretty balanced set and the current line-up is stellar.

When i saw them two years ago they played Hanger and holy wars, along with some peace sells tracks and a bunch of stuff from the system has failed.

From what I've seen on their live DVDs there's not a whole lot of action on stage nor much crowd interaction. But with the treasure of songs they have it doesn't matter much, as long as they play a good setlist and they usually do. I'd definitely go see them if I got the chance.

One thing I noticed about Mustaine when I saw Megadeth at Gigantour 2005 is that he seems very nervous/shy on stage. Almost like he's deliberately trying to be polite to the audience.

He's too busy blowing your face off with riffs to move.

They delivered a pretty good show here last year. As Radagast pointed Dave didn't seem all that enthusiastic, but the band played well and my general impression of the show is a positive one. Their set was amazing. They were all there: Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, Symphony of Destruction etc. etc. you name it.

They were here again a couple of weeks ago. I didn't go to that gig as there were really nothing left for them to play after the last show and their newest is kind of weak in my opinion. But people were not really that impressed by that gig. Some people even used the words half assed and sub-par.

Live shows are probably the only good thing left about Megadeth. Their albums from Youthanasia onward have sucked horrible balls. horrible horrible balls. Like old stinky and saggy balls. Live shows are great. I saw them when Al Pitrelli was still with the group. They were absolutely amazing live.

Well, I got to see Megadeth live on March 14th and let me tell you. They KICK ASS !. Here's a few sentences about the show. My friend and I got to the venue a bit late. The Rock India fest had started around 2. When we entered, Thermal And A Quarter were playing. They are a mix of hard rock and jazz. They are liked around here, but I found them to be quite boring. Up next was Millenium, one of the oldest bands, formed 22 years ago. They were good, but the vocalist seemed to try and outbeat Ozzy and Zakk Wylde in using the "fuck" word the most number of times in a sentence. Pentagram was next. They are a kind of industrial metal band. While not the type of music I would listen to usually, they were still very good live. Then, next was Machine Head. The crowd reaction was enormous. They were fantastic live. Then, came the Bosses, the one everyone was waiting for, Mega fucking Deth. They started off immediately with Sleepwalker, Wake Up Dead and Take No Prisoners. It was only then that Dave spoke. He said he wasn't going to do much talking and they were going to just play which is exactly what they did. Trust me, they ROCKED !. Dave Mustaine wasn't immobile, but moved around a lot. Here is the remaining tracks they played in no particular order. My Darkest Hour, Skin O' My Teeth, Symphony Of Destruction, A Toute Le Monde, Washington's Next, Tornado Of Souls, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying, Hangar 18, Trust and the last two were Burnt Ice and Holy Wars.... The Punishment Due. Like me, everyone else was just standing there once it was over hoping they would play some more. Fantastic show. The only drawback was that the sound system was fucked up. Dave Mustaine's vocals were barely audible and the so were the solos which is sad cos I believe Megadeth's solos are among the best.

Reaaally makes me angry when metal venues fuck up the sound. I'm not an expert but surely it can't be all that hard to get right. Especially when so many bands take such a long, long, long time to soundcheck.

They were great four years ago when I saw them. They played Holly Wars, Hangar 18, Take No Prisoners and Tornado of Souls from Rust In Peace. And a lot of kickass songs from their other albums. It's still in my top 3 best live shows I ever saw.
