Sworn by some, hated by others...

For myself, the evil noise of VON: 'tis good.
There's is an undeniable streak of malevolence coursing through their music that, along with its primitive, minimalistic nature, sets just the right frame of mindlessness.

I'll check 'em out, but they have the reputation of amateurish noisemakers that managed to influence some big names.

haven't heard much of them... but i think their material well get released on single or double lp soon which means i'm going to buy it. ( EDit: forget i said that... i must be another old act from USA i'm thinking about. Von already did for some years ago)

Haatstrijd once made a really awsome cover of a VON track called... VON... it's a fucking great piece of music, and I will love it till the day i die in a pillow accident. It's way better than the original.

Not quite; I may be mistaken, but I believe Mayhem dates back to '87 or so; VON came around a few years later, early '90's.
Not the most intricate music around, but they possess a primitive malevolence that is quite nice.
Either loved or hated, I've never met anyone occupying the "middle ground".

Satanic Blood came out in 1992, so yes, you are right. I'd got the impression they were several years earlier.

He mentioned them as an influence in one of his interviews back in the day and thats what the idea that it stood for Victory ORGASM NAZI came from.

Well, do you have an opinion on them, or are you just going to continue to regurgitate other peoples words?

It's not for everyone, true.
What genres do you listen to most?

Doom's great stuff, but yeah, if you don't dig BM, you wouldn't dig VON.

What the hell, there's something in this world for everybody.

Did I recently convert to rap? What hahahhahahah

I've been listening to a lot of everything recently man. A lot of King Crimson, Gong, Rush, Daevid Allen been looking for a lot of 60's and 70's psyche bands. As well as stuff like the mars volta, radiohead, you know just something of everything i dont really want to go into it further, but thats where i've been at.

I just started getting into other genres as well man, and I had been listening to a shit load of basically only metal for 4 or 5 years and to be honest nothing new good was coming out, and while i still dug the classics I just needed something fresher and I was definitley enjoying what was happening with other bands not related in the metal genre. So I started to lose interest in metal for a while.
