Post subject:  Black Metal aus 2007 so far

I was just thinking to make a list of albums released this year to get a general view of our situation. Might come in handy too when it is time for the black metal awards. It has been a true bombarment this year i think. Many of the big bands seems to have released something. Personally, i've hardly heard any of them, he he, been too lazy, too much to listen to.

This is how the list look so far - demos, splits, 7'' etc is not included. Band that is "irrelevant" is not included either, else the the list would be a too fucking long. Some of the bands may only be relevant too me, so don't cry too much when you read it - but for the most part they are actually somewhat irrelevant for me. Others are from the reviews on MR, only those got a decent score, though. Some albums might be a bit misplaced.

here we go, with a few suprises perhaps:

Abigor - Fractal Possession
Aetherius Obscuritas - Viziok
Alkonost - Pesni Vechnogo Dreva
Angantyr - Hævn
Akercocke - Antichrist

Astrofaes - Idea Form Essence
Behemoth - The Apostasy
Besatt - Triumph Of Antichrist
Bilskirnir - Wotansvolk
Blut aus Nord - Odinist

Darkestrah - Epos
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli
Drautran - Throne Of The Depths (this should kick ass so i have included it on the list)
Dusk - Pray For Death
Endstille - Endstilles Reich
Forgotten Woods - Race of Cain
Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
Glorior Belli - Manifesting the Raging Beast
Hellveto - 966
Hordagaard - Djeveldyrkar
Holmgang - Gengangerens Kvad

Peste Noire - Mors Orbis Terrarum (not a new album as such)
Primordial - To The Nameless Dead
Raate - Sielu, Linna
Sadomator - Goats Brew Alcolust
Sear Bliss - The Arcane Odyssey
Sigh - Hangman's Hymn
Shining - V - Halmstad
Stillhet - Dømt At Have Sit Liv Forbrudt

Vreid - I Krig
Watain - Sworn to the Dark
Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Woods of Infinity - Hamptjärn
Wyrd - Kammen
Xasthur - Defective Epitaph

Did i forget something? lots of kick ass bands.

anywho... Nyktalgia, Darkspace, Abyssic Hate, Satanic Warmaster, Forest of Fog, Paysage d'Hiver, and/or Nokturnal Mortum might also release something this year. At least many of the albums is in the writting process.

hope it was somewhat useful.

Useful, but also infuriating :P

Damn i need to catch up and order some fucking cd's.

Only ones i have are Drudkh, Sigh, Shining, Vreid, Hellveto, Wolves in The Throne Room and Mayhem. All the others I've heard of in that list i want :dio:, and all the others i might check out since you have excellent taste in bm :dio:

I didn't even know the new Darkthrone was out! lol

Also new Nyktalgia :dio:

Edit: I think we all know who is going to top the end of year awards. It's gonna be a Deathspell Omega landslide.

Bloody hell, still no confirmation on the new Leviathan? I seriously think it'll be pushed back to 2008, or become the black metal Chinese Democracy. If it does come out this year, it'll probably be the BM album of the year, though Darkthrone could give it a run for it's money.

Great list, although I wouldn't consider Akercocke, Behemoth or Primordial black metal anymore. Mutiilation has a new album out? That's something I need to check asap!

From what I heard in that list, I liked best so far:

Anaal Nathrakh - Hell Is Empty And All the Devils Are Here
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Drudkh - Estrangement
Darkestrah - Epos
Limbonic Art - Legacy Of Evil
Glorior Belli - Manifesting the Raging Beast
Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Sigh - Hangman's Hymn
Marduk - Rom 5:12
Blut aus Nord - Odinist

Weren't Nocternity supposed to release something as well?

Okay, heh.. i knew it was a bit misplaced when i placed those on the list. Perhaps i should just have made a post-black metal list for the fun of it, also including Alcest, Samael, Dödheimsgard.. hmm.. and one more that i have forgotten about.

Nocternity did release something this year :) .. but only a 7'' i'm afraid. I would have loved a new full-lenght albums as well

Mütiilation and Wyrd was actually the reason why i made the list. At first i wanted to put them elsewhere in a another thread about new albums. But i thought it would be easier to make a new thread with a list with all the new albums this year. I haven't heard them myself... but i know a blog on the web where you can get them fairly easy along with other albums of interest. Anyone who want the link can just PM me.
According to reviews the new Mütiilation should be quite alright, but so should the new Nargaroth. Better to make your own opinion when it comes to bands as these, he he.

What, Wyrd too? I didn't see them the first time around. I'm searching for that blog right now :D

Yeah, I know about that 7'' of Nocternity's, it's quite good I thought. But I was under the impression there's a full length coming out too.

Was anyone a teensy bit disappointed by Two Hunters? I think its excellent, but some parts reminded me of the first album, which sort of breaks the atmosphere.

Hey, this is a very helpful thread! There are several releases here I didn't know about/haven't heard...

I'll also mention Krohm's album, The Haunting Presence, which I like quite a bit.

You forgot the "proper" new Peste Noire, Folkfuck Folie. Oh, by the way, there seems to be some discrepancy over Mord Un Totshclag's release. Some sites say 2005, some 2007. I think it's to do with the fact that it's basically a demo that was limited to 100 copies , which was re-released in 2007.

The new Mayhem is okay. It still reeks of that Industro-Tech-Weirdo-Machine sound from their last two releases. I understand Hellhammer is awesome and all, but does he have to incorporate off-timed fills in EVERY song? Can't they just have a regular, slow-paced song every once in a while? I want to hear Atilla's excellent tortured-soul vox not get buried under Hellhammer's fury.

Yes Drudkh, we get it. Epic, 15 minute songs are kvlt. I love the band, but I can only take so many epics about forests.

Darkthrone's CD is more comedy than BM. I love Fenriz's Lemmy impersonation in "Fuck off And Die"

But the class of that list is Marduk. So far, my pick for BM metal album of the year with Blut Aus Nord and Anaal Nathrakh close behind.

DSO, Anaal Nathrakh, and Marduk are my favorites from the list, although i think Glorior Belli deserves a mention too.

Obscurus Advocam's Verbia Daemonicus came out in 2007, didn't it?

None hasnt mentioned Ghremdrakk's Le m'exalte yet. Fantastic album. The new Interitus is also worth checking out.

awsome! didn't know that. Do you know if the new Interitus will be released on LP?

didn't know the other band. But i heard a nice sample from their album.

the other day i also saw that Arkha Sva had released a new full-lenght album this year (gloria Satanae), which will be released on LP soon. Heard a sample of it from the labels profile on myspace, really awsome, i think -http://www.myspace.com/auramystiqueproductions

What about Nocternity? Didn't they release something?

Author:  Astaroth [ Mon Dec 10, 2007 1:35 am ]
Post subject:

nope... only a 7'' containing old material, i was hoping for a full-lenght too, but so far nocternity hasn't announced any plans to write a new album. I really hope he will some day, it would be shame if he ceased to be, cuz his music is awsome

They did announce a new release several years ago, stating that it 'would not appear until 2007'.
