It's pointless, because they are very different bands but both excellent. I'd rate their influentiality about equal - but they are at the source of different sub-subgenres (Emperor with the more melodic, keyboard offspring, Mayhem with the more straight-in-your-face approach). I find it pointless to sustain an argument about this, it boils down to personal opinion. Or, failing that, to a mental institute.

rest of the songs are as well nice.

Gateways was the only good song off the album. Dimmu now sucks which upsets me because they have been one of my favorite metal bands for a couple years...

I enjoyed the orchestral parts. Orchestras in black metal are pretty damn awesome.
