Maybe they were unconsistent, or inconsistent - not maybe, they were indeed not straight - Load, Reload, S&M, St. Anger... - BUT they went back to the Thrash, and that's 100 times better, than another Load or Reload.

Kerry King said in an interview, that he can't understand how a band that made Damage Inc. came with "Hero of the Day" but I hope he will notice, that the Band thad made "Hero of the Day" can also make something like "My Apocalypse".

And even Sodom, Kreator, Testament, Megadeth and Slayer changed their original style and came back. The only difference to Metallica is, that Metallica were tooo successful with the Black Album. but is success so bad?

Yeah, because there's nothing else to thrash than just playing fast all downpicked with bad production, right?

Jesus, there are so many METALLICA fanboyz here. It's annoying actually.

Since when honesty became "fanboyitude"?
Stating the obvious (Metallica are the huge, their music is varied, etc.) is not a fanboy attitude, just a clever one.

Not at all, succes is a great thing, the only difference really is that Sodom, Kreator, Testament, Exodus, Overkill and Megadeth had released better albums than Death Magnetic and the only reason we are having this disscussion is that Metallica is one of your favorite bands and you like them better, wich is fine in my book.

Yes I am a Metallica fanboy :P but I'm also e.g. a Megadeth Fanboy. And yes, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and even Risk were better than Load and Reload - big time!

The System has failed was also better than St. Anger. And Slayers God hates us all too.

Kreators Enemy of God or Violent Revolution were way way better than Load, Reload and St. Anger.

BUT Death Magnetic beats IMO Megadeths United Abomination, even though with a short advance. Compared to Testament's formation of damnation, it's maybe a draw. Slayers Chris Illusion is also on the same rank. The last Exodus I would rate a little bit lower, because there WERE really loooong songs, with repeating riffs up and down. And better than Iced Earth's Crucible of Man and Judas Priest's Nostradamis is Death Magnetic too. But there's nothing to it.

The only reason you guise are rating Kreator et al higher than Metallica is because of the awesome elitist factor that's prevalent around here. For the average guy, it's about quality as much as heaviness, which pushes 80s 'tallica into the front, since most German Thrash recorded back then sounds pretty shitty production-wise.

And there's no way Death Magnetic is better than United Abominations. NO WAI

I wouldn't like to choose between United Abominations and Death Magnetic... UA is more interesting, inventive, catchier etc, but then Megadeth has always been more interesting, inventive and catchier than Metallica since forever. Metallica on the other hand do brutality and teh angriness better than Megadeth. This goes for UA and DM just as much as it goes for their first albums.

I like UA, and it's Megadaves best since Countdown or Rust in Peace, but it has IMO tooo many similar midtempo groover: Title Track, Gears of War, Blessed are the Dead, Your Dead and Burnt Ice. The rest is great, but these songs are IMO not fast, inventive and good enough. And the new A Tout le Monde is superfluous too. If it would have more songs like Sleepwalker or Play for Blood or Washington is Next, then it would be at least equal to DM, but DM has much more variety.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I'd take Death Magnetic over Exodus' new stuff any day, and Overkill's RelixIV and the past two Megadeth albums have been just about as average. Kreator's Enemy of God barely edges it out, and Sodom's latest is just awesome.

I should just mention that Overkill's MOST recent is actually Immortalis, and it's WAY better than RelixIV. Not saying it's better than Death Magnetic, just saying it's the most shining example of Overkill's recent output.
