Nile, Dying Fetus and Necrophagist are playing 300 metres from my house, but I can't afford the ticket. :(

And even if I could, it'll probably be sold out.

So the last metal gig I was at was Nasum, Narcosis, Broken Access and Stigma. The latter being a duo; vocalist and a guy who played drums with his feet, an guitar with his hands. Excellent.

Other than that I just saw Dillinger Escape Plan, who were great if a little samey after a few songs. Supported by the mighty Ephel Duath! (who only played half an hour  )

in northern england? is that at manchester academy or something?

Nah Leeds Joseph's Well!

Its a tiny venue, but still manages to pull in some great bands.

In the end, turned out I had enough money, AND it wasn't sold out, so I went after all.

I thought Nile were fundamentally great, but it just seemed there wasn't enough variety in their set... I found myself losing interest a bit about half way through. The best thing about the gig was the openers: a scottish act called "Man Must Die", who I'd never heard of, but were very good in a "madman is absolute kinda" way. (another scottish band- if you've not heard them, check them out they're great).

Tonight I went to a Tribute Night at the Pound in San Fansisco. Really small and great venue, good thing all the conserts I'm going to in the next few months are there.

Anyway, there were Judas Priest, Merciful Fate, Metallica, and Megadeth tribute bands. The only one that was really good was the Metallica one, thought the Priest one was pretty good. The Megadeth vocalist didn't even try to sound like Dave Mustaine, and the psudo King Diamond was just hilarious. Not only did he sound nothing like the King, but he came out with the paint and a bone-cross hooked onto his mic, with a milk chug in his other hand. Which is an easy-to-drink milk thing from Berkley Farms.

It was easily one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

He left it on stage afterward. And once the Damage Inc.(the Metallica tribute band) was done and it was still up there, my friend asked to have the Milk Chug. He says that if he ever sees psudo-king diamond he's going to get him to sign it.

Just saw Nightwish for the first time the other night. It was excellent, I was especially impressed with Marco's vocal performance (and Tarja's of course). The set list was pretty heavy on the Once material but I was glad for that - I think Once is actually their best album.

As far as I know all their shows here in Australia were sold out, I just hope it encourages other bands to tour here.

Tonight: Finntroll, Ajattara, Pain Confessor, Total Devastation. I mostly go there because of Finntroll, but the rest should be ok too.

You're not very attentive of my posts if you think my tastes are based on how 'kvlt' a band is.....

I just found out that Carpathian Forest is coming to Mexico this summer. It's gonna be quite a good vacation with NIN, Dark Tranquility, Nile and Carpathian Forest visiting my city :D .
