Slayer is already listed in post 1 dishwasher.

loled
Is it funnier because the Mexican called the Mexican American a dishwasher or is it just a funny insult in and of itself?

I..I just thought it was a funny insult in general. But wait, do you actually work in a kitchen I'm confused.

Yeah he does. Man's integrity and dignity isn't based on what status he holds in society though. Two things non-existent in Steve anyway

don't really feel like going back and reading the last two pages to see what bands have been mentioned so here's a few I think are deserving

Kreator
Sepultura (for their early work prior to Roots)
Coroner
Dark Angel
Artillery
Annihilator
Slayer
Exhorder
Megadeth (for their first four albums plus United Abominations and Endgame)
D.R.I

^ the original premise of the thread, is based on perceived popularity of thrash bands in which all of your mentions barring Slayer and Megadeth would be eliminated as either regional or underground bands.

in that case

Metallica
Anthrax
Megadeth
Slayer
Testament
Overkill
Exodus

uh that's it for me I'm afraid, the remainder of my thrash collection fail to meet the requisite criteria with possible exceptions for Kreator and Death Angel

How far do you push the boundaries as to definition of Thrash?

Would Sacred Reich (American Way) and Suicidal Tendencies fit in here?

Suicidal was relatively big in the USA.

I'd say both bands fit into a top ten list like this.

Yeah, I forget those stadium packed shows of 100,000 that Sacred Reich was playing. Not to mention when they sold out after releasing the Black album.

Well Sacred Reich was relatively unknown, and Suical tendencies are crossover, don't know if they actually count. There were actually a pretty sizable number of bands that never really got much recognition, unfortunately, in their time at least,

There was a point in time that I felt if I heard Kill 'em All one more time I'd strangle somebody. Shit got old by the fall of 84, it was all anybody played.

I was always more into the non-thrash stuff, i.e., Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Saxon, Exciter (in 83, Heavy Metal Maniac was the shit), Venom, Death, Possessed, Bathory, etc, personally, though I did and still do love the thrash of the time. The mid 80s were obviously thrash's golden era.

I do like Machine Head but they don't count. They've been groove metal, nu-metal and possibly post-thrash, but never thrash.

I hate lists that are meant to be about popularity as opposed to quality, especially on this sort of thing where I think it would be interesting to compare what people think the top ten thrash bands going around are from a quality standpoint, popularity is fucking worthless as a guide, there are some fucking awful bands that are popular and commercially successful (i.e motley crue, poison, kiss, killswitch engage etc)

And also from the 90s.

What's the purpose of this thread? Why only bands prior to 89 and popular?

Umm in case I have to do content analysis of lyrics for a paper I'm writing, I wanted a debated upon consensus in order to define my swatch from the genre. Yeah, I could have picked all the bands with political tracks like AJFA, Nuclear Assault, surprisingly a lot of Annihilator tunes and said "look thrash metal cares about Cold War issues", but I wanted to be honest in my account. I have never done content analysis; I've only done close readings of the music, but that might change with this paper.
