Therion, on balance, has done more good than bad for metal.

That's great as long as you don't watch the 300 clips.

imo the 00s are the best decade for metal because that's when all my favourite bands were releasing their best albums.

This is a good argument for subjective reasons. I know it's difficult to quantify objectively, but that's at least what I was trying to do. But really, for each person I imagine this is the approach taken.

Symphonic metal is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The song makes the movie look more chaotic. The song itself sounds chaotic. The middle of the song doesn't add up too well with the movie but everything else is badass.

The only one i own is Colony; it's very catchy and very gay at the same time.

HT, you fuckin dissapoint me alot; i used to think you were a proper metalhead...

Just stick to Agent Steel, Dark Angel and Holy Terror, and leave all that gay melodeath to the fuckin posers.

All of your posts make HT look better and better by comparison.

How does being stuck in the 80s feel?

It feels great;you should try sometimes.

If stub means that the 80s were a golden era for quality metal, he certainly does have a point. Alas, his stupid way of putting it ruins everything.

The golden era of metal is the present, man.

Wrong.

The golden age of gayness, maybe...

Yeah, because this is the gayest era ever, not the 80's.
It doesn't get more manly than this.

Yeah, you can identify the most influential musicians but genres are changing all the time so its dumb to say a certain period is when genre x was at its best.

Those guys look great. If you wanna see something REALLY gay, take a look at bands like Apocalyptica, Behemoth, In Flames, BFMV, Sonic Syndicate, and so on.....

Please educate us by posting more generic power metal bands so we can learn what metal is really about.

He can't be sarcastic since that would require some form of intelligence.

Dumbass.
1) That is a modern day parody Hair "metal" band.
2) Thrash / death / black metal from that era did not wear that shit.
Standard attire was 501s, Nikes and leather jackets.
3) Nothing today even comes close to the elite of that era.
4) You wouldn't know, because you were probably soiling your diapers and giggling around your binky in front of Big Bird on TV.

Jesus Christ, calm the fuck down. There's no need to make it personal.

1) You're right here. This is a hair metal band. Oh wait, I knew that already.
2) Since I wasn't even born at the time I have no actual memory of how thrash/death/black metal bands dressed. But I do know they sure as hell didn't wore the clothes in that picture.
3) Although this is mostly your personal preference, I'm not going to deny the importance of the 80's now, and I never did so in the past.
4) Now, this is where you're wrong. The scenario you're talking about here actually took place in the early 90's. But there's no way you could've known that, so I won't hold it against you.

Now about that picture. It wasn't supposed to be taken entirely serious. It was a stupid reaction, fueled by frustration, towards an equally stupid comment, nothing more, nothing less. It wasn't my intention to make a point, but rather to point out that the entire discussion about which era is "the gayest" is just stupid. I'm well aware of the fact that the 80's were an incredibly important decade for metal music with bands producing lots of quality music.
Hopefully this clears things up a little bit.

To Cotb and Milan:

No need for an argument, as you both have excellent taste in metal. The point here is stub is laughable.

And without the 90s/00s there would be no funeral doom.....and that would be awful.

*returns to the final Colosseum album, which I have probably heard 20 times in the past week*
