ok, some BM black & white make-up are coold and fitting the music perfectly... but sometimes.... what a big big laugh !!!

PS : btw, the guy on the left looks kinda bald...

Who gives a fuck how they look? Maniac Butcher kicks ass!
Take any metalband... Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast, or any album for that matter...they look pretty fuckin goofy; Judas Priest... 'nuff said, and I don't mean Halford only... uhh, Manowar?!?; Power Metal is rife with sorry-assed looking geeks as is any thrash band that tries to look all tough and menacing, when they are skinny little shits, looking all uncomfortable and awkward, especially when they are shirtless, all sunken chested and bony-armed and you know that deep down he wishes he had a shirt on ... you've seen them and know who I am talking about; same goes for death metal: I have seen some goofy ass looking motherfuckers that try to look all hard but cannot mask that they are skinny little musicians. My point is, whats your point?

Exactly, which is my point. Maniac Butcher are notorious for cheesy corpsepaint and album covers but they still kick serious ass.

like the boys from i-mockery said, some pictures don't need funyn captions.

but yes some bm pics look badass.

i still prefer thrash though. i don't give a damn about attitude, i want music, and the one i like best is thrash.

btw varg vikerness is a skinny fucker, the difference is he is nuts and the thrashers are just fucking around.

Yeah, if you're going for a look, you should definitely do it right, no question about it... some look fucking cool, some do not.
I don't think Varg is nuts, but he is obviously willing to risk everything on principle... actually whether you agree with his philosophy or not, he is quite lucid and intelligent, and I am not aware of any other lashing out other than the Euronymous incident and the church burnings...

just pathetic, anyone who like this shit is obviously immature to say the least.

The same could be said for power metal... really, to make a statement like that is ridiculous, you obviously don't like black metal or understand what the the corpsepaint represents, so keep your ignorant comments to yourself please.
V.

Probably means they are too embarrased to show their real faces or are to mindless to break away from a dumb trend. What does power metal have to do with stupidity of face painting.

point is almost nobody likes power metal because of appearance of a band, they like it because of music. But black metal is a lot about appearance and seems like many kids really adore the face paint, ("wow how coool it, but all of you are too stupid to understand the genius of it")

Hails, V!

Hails Desolate!
If done right, corpsepaint is fucking cool; it adds to the mystique of Black Metal, and anyone that knows what BM is about will tell you, that mystique, the sense of things long buried beneath the surface, of things hidden deep within the psyche, is the main aspect of the genre... that is why the poor production enhances the music; it is like the barely audible whisper of things long forgotten by mortals, from vast gulfs of frozen void.

I am willing to bet my house that not one serious Black Metal afficionado here likes it because of the corpsepaint; I mean, you can't be serious...

if nobody likes it, then why would these bands keep putting on the dumb paint? But I bet you nobody will admit that to you. But I never even sais that they like black metal because of paint, but as you can see from this thread some really love the paint.

corpsepaint is part of black metal, black metal has unwritten rules to live by, unlike other forms of metal. It would be like giving black metal a good production, it totally destroys the music while not being part it.

But lets be serious here... comparing thrash and black metal is like apples and oranges...
Don;t get me wrong, Thrash is cool (Destruction, Sodom, Kreator etc,) but it is a device of humans, and so confined to human spheres... Black Metal is a tapping of the occult forces that are hidden (mostly) from men; whether anthems of power for dark kings (Judas Iscariot-Heaven in Flames, Emperor-In The Nightside Eclipse, Satyricon-DMT, Shadowthrone) or a transcendence from the material world of the mundane (Xasthur, Leviathan, Nachtmystium, Black Funeral) or straight up misanthropic onslaught (Darkthrone, Mutiilation, Vlad Tepes, Maniac Butcher, Tsjuder, Dark Funeral, Mayhem) or the aural equivalent of disembodied souls unleashed to haunt the gloomy night (Gehenna) or folk inspired, pagan, NSBM (Nokturnal Mortum, Graveland, Drudkh)... not to mention Ulver, who are some of all of those mentioned above.
As you can see Black Metal is not only diverse, but transcends the realm of mere mortals.
While caught in a Black Metal trance, it is like an astral experience, a taste of immortality, a glimpse into a world between worlds.
Those of you that are into this genre will know exactly of what I speak.
Many Hails!
