How on earth is IX better than Anthems?

+1. Well, I never listened to Prometheus. But take that one out and I agree.

In fact,

Wrath of the Tyrant > Nightside > (silence) > Anthems > IX

No Lucy, no. Anthems is better than IX, and In the Nightside Eclipse is the epitome of Norwegian BM, period.

I fail miserably to understand why you like so much this band. I've heard the EP, and while is good, I couldn't find anything amazing.

Couldn't agree more. Black Metal is so much better than Thrash.

Really? It just sums up the spacey wonder of walking-in-the-woods-scared-out-of-your-mind-on-drugs BM, for me, certainly some of the best atmospheric BM I've ever heard. Considering that all they've released is that and a demo (soon to be rereleased by Supernal!) it's pretty darn impressive. What, it just didn't grab you? Listening to it now, just to reinforce my overwhelmingly positive impressions...

And yes, seriously guys, I like a bit of Thrash as much as the next guy, but once you've heard Slayer, Megadeth and Celtic Frost there's not a great deal more territory to be covered AND DON'T START A FLAME WAR about it because 1. you'll lose and 2. this is the black metal thread.

I'll listen to it again, in the forest, with some drugs and maybe some red wine, and then I'll tell you my impressions.

I agree, a flame war will be useless and purposeless, Blackers would win so easy, the unholy flames of Hell are by our side! What do Thrashers have besides teenage rage and the power of urbanity? :P I must say that I like Thrash, a lot, but it's just inferior to Black Metal.

Thst's stupid. Good Thrash is as good as good Black (or Death, or Doom, or Power, or Prog, or ...) and bad Thrash is horrible, as bad Black (or Death, or Doom, or Power, or Prog, or ...). There's a lot to discover in either metal genre (well, perhaps letting out nu-metal & metalcore) to start if one genre is better that other.

I see no argument in the whole paragraph. Black Metal is more diverse, more intelligent, with better lyrics, a whole variety of emotions is present in Black Metal, Thrash is all about destruction and rage. Of course there are crappy bands, but as a whole, BM is superior, period.

I disagree. Checked IXXI out? Black Metal can have headbangable riffs, too.

No mosh parts in BM... No fun.
I'd take a thrash concert over a BM concert ANYDAY!

Meh, pure Black Metal vs pure Thrash? BM wins every time.

It all depends of the mood. There're black days, there're thrash days. And there're black fanboys, there're thrash fanboys.

Happy birthday, Mr. Charles. Happy you're here.

(Cynic owns all black and all thrash of 2008).
