At the Gates - The Red Sky is Ours

Kinda disappointed with this atg album, I guess I should have known that their back catalog wouldn't be all slaughter-of-the-soul quality.

You probably just need more time to get into it; keep in mind that SotS is their most catchy album. Maybe you should have started to explore their older stuff with Terminal Spirit Disease, as there they mix the technicality of their first two albums with the more ear-friendly approach of their final output. I perasonally dig this record a lot, but it took me quite some time to grasp its greatness.
And hell yeah, Borknagar's first is one hell of an album!!! \m/

Yeah I'll be picking up Terminal Spirit Disease as soon as I find a cheap copy. Thanks for the advice.

I was playing that one the other day.... quite enjoyable album, but I think that Tuonela is a bit better.

Yeah, I really enjoy their newer style ( a fan of their doomy death metal also ). The same thing goes to Katationa, I like both their old and new stuff.

Viva Emptiness is an amazing record, my second favorate from them, just behind Dance of December soul (one of the most powerful and emotional album in metal history)

Nice choices, these are all great! If you like Tristania... have you tried Sirenia? Veland (sp?) left Tristania after Beyond the Veil to form Sirenia and their 2 releases are both excellent.

I've heard of Sirenia, but i'm worried that they sound too much like
Tristania with Morten Veland. The next band on my list to check out is Therion. I've heard so many good things about them, that i simply have to check them out.

Thanks Stefan :D

By the way, the packaging of the Fantômas album is awesome! It's a cool calendar for the month of April, ilustrated by a famous Japanese artist. I think it's the limited edition, so if you're interested get it fast. And well, the album is superb (as always); this one is in the vein of the first one.
