Umm yeah ok, so maybe more than "a bit" insane. Ah well, lighter on money but heavier on CDs so that's a good trade off :dio:

I didn't even know of those releases. How are they?

966 is very good. Carpathian Art of Sin is an odd one, Blakagir is exactly the same guy as the one that is Hellveto. So Carpathian Art of Sin is pretty much like Hellveto stuff, but more ambient in sound. It is still good however, it's quite a different experience from Hellveto.

I concur. Both of those releases are awesome :dio:

Yeah, LON really puts out a lot of material. I have quite a few of Hellveto's albums and was aware of his 2006 releases, but I didn't realize he had a new one, or that Blakagir had a new release. I have Nostalgia, which I like, but not enough to buy the new one without hearing a few comments and maybe giving it a listen or something first. Sounds good though!

Artillery - By Inheritance

after listening to this a few times I think it has some of the coolest guitar playing on any metal album

Akercocke - Antichrist

So far, so awesome. Even more proggy than WTGU, DTGU but in a more clearly experimental way, rather than being all melodic. Another fine album.

What do people think of the new Entombed?

I like the new Entombed, mainly due to the fact that
they kicked so much ass live at HITS.

The new Entombed is pretty good, but the vocals just don't do it for me.

The one track I heard was ok, but a bit dull. Not convinced as to this 'oh, they've gone all punky' hype. Still, I remember Charles saying it was good, and he's usually on the button...

Gone punky? I haven't heard such hype... It's a DM album with a very typical Entombed sound, lots of grooving and energy. They've experimented slightly more with vocal sounds and keyboard sounds, but only slightly and it's a very positive effect.

I think it's an awesome album, although I have never really listened to much of their stuff post-WB so I wouldn't like to compare it to that. The wierd thing is all the references. One track has a riff that is IDENTICAL to NIN's The Becoming. And that's not just coincidence, it's a reallly distinctive riff. Then there's this track Masters of Death which is basically a long list of tributes, some very obvious (ie shouting "Napalm Death" very loudly), but also slightly more obscure bits, like I'm sure the first vocal phrase is meant to sound like a Deathstrike song.

EDIT: Ah I was right here are the first lines

Quote:
Mannequin mannequin
They're all the same
Deathstrike said so

Huzzah I feel I have upped my metal credibility.

Just ordered Megadeth-Rust In Peace.

At 4 pounds, can you afford not to buy it?

Quite impressed especially since it's their first release. It's got original riffs, good vocals and a crisp sound. Sure it's not perfect but you can tell that if they keep it up their next release should be huge.

For some reason it's being ignored as well as The Absence's Riders of The plague. Both are solid melodeath efforts.

Ah, good. I'll have to check them and The Absence out properly.

It is a good album, it's not a masterpiece but it's a well executed melodeath album that deserves to be heard. Like I've said before nothing ground breaking but solid none the less. 8.2/10 for me.

Also, when I mentioned it's being ignored, I meant on these boards. Not too many discussions going on for this release don't you think !?

Lots of good stuff gets, if not ignored, then at least passed by. Keep mentioning it, people take notice eventually.
