Heh, heard a few tracks from it and realised it wasn;t so bad. And if its thier worst, then I;m doing ok.

You talking about Supercharger? Yeah, more good tracks than bad. Did you get the UK version with the bonus tracks? "Tenfold" and a cover of Sabbath's "Hole In The Sky" are bonus tracks; both great tunes. There are also some live tracks on this version.

I have a particular distaste for Supercharger, It nearly put me off Machine Head. I like to just pretend it doesn't exist, the only tracks on it I like are Bulldozr and Deafening Silence. Everything else is the musical equivalent of getting prison raped.

05. Kick You When You're Down (Decent)
06. Only The Names (Very Good)
07. All In Your Head (Very Good)
08. American High (Decent - Retarded Lyrics/Intro)
09. Brown Acid (Pointless Interlude)
10. Nausea (Very Good)
11. Blank Generation (Not Terrible, Not Very Good)
12. Trephination (Terrible)
13. Deafening Silence (Awesome)
14. Supercharger (Not Terrible, Not Very Good)
15. Hole In The Sky * (Awesome)

I got the promo for this yesterday, and I'm floored. The album is outstanding! It is their fastest and heaviest album yet. The dual soloing is fucking awesome, I was getting goose bumps listening to them. The dynamics on this one are all over the place.

1. Clenching The Fists Of Dissen (10:35)
2. Beautiful Morning (4:49)
3. Aesthetics Of Hate (6:34)
4. Now I Lay Thee Down (5:36)
5. Slanderous (5:17)
6. Halo (9:03)
7. Wolves (9:04)
8. A Farewell To Arms (10:12)

Running time: 61:13

The haters are still going to hate it, because that's what they do, but if you're a Machine Head fan, you're going to fucking drool while listening to this album.

Could you post some samples on Myspace or something? Halo, in particular, I'm interested in hearing since MH has always had some rather interesting religious themes lyrically.

I actually listened to Burn My Eyes just yestarday. Definitely one of the best crafted and most consistent "modern metal" albums of all time. I'd say both that and The More Things Change are equally good - just in different ways (BME is rawer and faster while TMTC is heavier and more emotional).

I agree. Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change are both awesome, just in different ways.

I could upload a song, but can you download a big file?

Well said. Those two albums remain guilty pleasures of mine to this day.

Of course. Hell, I downloaded America's Army (a 700+ Meg file!). If I can download that, I can easily download an MH song.

Love that intro! Definitely quite indicative of what the song's about (lyrically). The main song is also great. This may very well be Machine Head's most technically accomplished album yet.

Yeah, I'd say this is their most technical album yet. There are some old school tracks like "Halo," which sounds like it could have been on The More Things Change, but overall it's pretty fast and heavy.

Thanks Eyesore. :dio:

I'll have to buy this.

That'll give you a better idea of what the album is like (if you haven't downloaded it yet). I gotta admit, it's extremely cool that they let a bunch of fans come down to the studio like that. It must have been awesome for those fans, especially considering how unbelievably killer that song is.

As many killer albums that have already come out this year, and will come out, it's going to be extremely hard for any to beat The Blackening, in my eyes. This album is just so amazing! I really can't believe they recorded something so killer.

There will be some versions with bonus tracks. The UK version has at least one bonus track, which will be their cover of Metallica's "Battery." The Japanese will have two versions, one with "Battery" only, and another with that and an unknown new track. Rumor has it that the UK will also have this unnamed track, but that's not know yet.

Anyway, this album has yet to leave my playlist. It is awesome.

This album is getting perfect scores all over the net and in magazines! Fuck yeah!

Quote:
Having absolutely savaged its unanimously-acclaimed predecessor "Through The Ashes Of Empires", long-running, respected and wildly popular UK-based emo weekly (and former Limp Bizkit über-champions) Kerrang! magazine have finally come to their senses and declared Machine Head's 'The Blackening' an "absolute masterpiece", awarding it their highest honor of 5 K's in a stellar review (see below).

MH has actually posted the entire album on Myspace (I'm too lazy to post the link). I'll be listening to it probably on Sunday, and will then post my thoughts here.
