crikey!

suffocation- pierced from within and effigy of the forgotten are in my opinion the best death metal albums by far, and i don't think there will ever be another death metal album that even comes close to them.

i understand how some albums are ranked number one for some people but as much as i love behemoth and nile, how can you even put them as the best death metal albums compared to bands like suffocation, morbid angel, cannibal corpse, death and others?

Zos Kia thingy is a pretty good album, can't go wrong with it. It's basically a more slowed down, less pummeling version of Demigod; which is why it has my preference over the latter. I find Demigod over-the-top in some places, especially the vocals.

idk, i love Morbid angel and suffocation. Im not a big fan of cannibal corpse but i have no reall beef with them other than there ridiculous song names.

untill i bought Demigod i would have said altars of madness but now the two fight back and forth for a place in my stereo

Nightmares Made Flesh really is an amazing album. Truly the only death album I can hear more than twice repeatedly. And it's always cool to sing the lyrics of Eaten around my buddies.

Demigod sounds way too damn close to what Nile has been doing, although they copy them very well. Cryptopsy instead of Behemoth for me.

Sound of Perseverence and Symbolic are my two favorite death metal albums. Black Seeds of Vengeance is also really good.

I'm not much into death metal, though, so I can't say I'm much of a source for info.

Does anybody think Demonic by Testament could actually qualify as a death metal album?

I dunno, None so Vile, The Bleeding, Altars of Madness and Deicide are all frontrunners, basically any classic death metal.

Demigod - Slumber of the Sullen Eyes
Demilich - Nespithe
The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph

Well, I do believe "Satanica" blows anything that Cryptopsy has ever done!

And then we have: Thelema.6, Zos Kia Cultus (Here and Beyond) and Demigod which is Pure Polish Death Metal, nothing to do with The U.S Death Metal Legends, Nile.

Underrated as hell, three masterpieces.

Nile has every right to be mentioned with those bands, and I'd argue it is an insult to Nile to be mentioned in the same breadth as Cannibal Corpse. Don't get me wrong, I love pierced from within too, but Nile has done as much any other brutal death band to advance the genre beyond mere 3 minute tracks of blastbeats.

Anyhow, I'm glad some of you mentioned The Chasm.

None So Vile is the only superior thing Cryptopsy has ever done as far as I am concerned.

I still think Vital Remain's Dawn of the Apocalypse is better than Dechristianize.

Cannibal Corpse is underrated in this site and overrated in some other sites.. I dont understand why people can't think in the "intermediate" way..
Cannibal Corpse deserve their credit for they were good and they are even better now.
Nile is a completely different style of death metal so it's stupid to compare.
Suffocation-Pierced from Within +Effigy of The forgotten+Human Waste=Masterpieces
