Detente... That's a new one to me. What do they sound like?

They're pretty good. It's your basic 80's thrash, but Dawn Crosby's vocals set it apart from the rest! She was so unique. Too bad the dumb bitch drank herself into an early grave!!

Also, it shows you how much potential Ross Robinson had! Too bad he ruined his life by becoming on of the most one-dimensional famous producers ever! Hahaha!

GO HERE FOR MORE INFO!!

Definitely a worthwhile link to check out, definitely listen to the MP3s!! =)

Speaking of the Japanese Sabbat, they're headlining a show in Chicago with The Chasm, Usurper, The Deceased, and hand full of other bands, but needless to say, if shit goes right, I'll be home to see that sucker!!

BTW, I know Vulcano and love Sarcofago, but are Sextrash a violent thrash band like Sarcofago, or something completely different? I'm interested either way.

Sabbat is a great band, they are one of the earliest BM bands and they remained kvlt to this day. One of the most respected underground bands for sho! Gezol's side project, Metalucifer is very good thrashy NWOBHM, if you can find their albums that is.

yeah Sextrash is similar to Vulcano, Sarcofago and Sepultura Morbid Tales/Schizo. They recently reformed again, a new album is probably underway !

I love Forbidden, but i felt they never lived up to their potential. Both Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form has filler songs. Russ Anderson is one of my fav bay area thrash vocalists !

    on Detente, Ross Robinson !?!?!??

Forbidden were probably the most underrated thrash band ever.

Ross Robinson played guitar in Detente! :D

As for Forbidden, they were brilliant! Check out Distortion and Green! Those albums are awesome!! Another good one to try and find is the import called "Trapped." It's basically a bootleg with songs from demos they recorded in the '90s, but the quality is excellent and some of the songs were never properly released. Awesome band!!

Russ Anderson was last in a wack alt-rock band called Parking Lot Prophets. They're no longer around, but they were terrible. He had short hair, still sang great, but it was just really odd. Especially since this was like right after Green came out and he had long hair, looked like a metalhead, a few years after he looked like a soccer dad! =)

Paradox is awesome.

I decided to check out some of the bands mentioned here because I love thrash but I've still got a long way to go, so I downloaded some Paradox. The title track from "Heresy" sounds like Paradox listened to the Master of Puppets album, were unimpressed, and said "We can do that entire album better, and it'll only take seven minutes."

Add them and Abbatoir to my list.

yeah i was about to question whats so good about Green and Distortion. Forbidden Evil has some really great moments in metal. Chalice Of Blood KILLS ! I think Russ Anderson is a great vocalist

I havent heard Paradox's Heresy yet, it's too hard to find that album. I'm not really into downloading either. I've heard their comeback album, Collision Course its pretty good.

You're out of your tits!! Shit, even Gene Hoglan thinks Green is an awesome album!! You, sir, are clearly insane. Don't check these albums out if you want thrash, that I'll agree with, but they're far from bad albums!!

Well if not-so-well-known can be measured with the fact that none of the people to whom I've told about Heathen haven't heard about them, then that would be the band. At least I liked the older albums that they released for free on their website.

At War was cool, the first album anyway, dunno how well-known they are really.

Early Anacrusis was great as well, Suffering Hour moreso than Reason, I love the later stuff too but it's hardly for thrash purists.

which is the THRASH Sabbat? uk or japan?

i add WEHRMACHT to the list. i don't like them much but they have their moments and i have a feeling certain people on this forum will love them.

Stone, Laaz Rockit, Dorsal Atlantica [brazil] and Overdose [brazil]. anyone familiar with them? which albums should i check out?

i heard Razor before.. personally i think they're mediocre. same with Vendetta (awesome name though).

CHECK OUT PORTUGAL'S PITCH BLACK! they have an album called "thrash killing machine" for crying out loud!

The Japanese Sabbat is first wave BM, but musically it's really in the vein of speed/thrash Venom

Which Razor album have you heard ? I think they are great. My favs are Evil Invaders and Violent Restitution. Executioner's Song and Malicious Intent is good too

Overdose is good, for fans of Brazillian thrash !

for Laaz Rockit go with Annihilation Principle (1989) & Nothing Sacred(1991), their two final outfits... it's good old school heavy thrashing fest... not exactly spectacular but very well crafted and wholeheartedly performed...

and Wehrmacht were an average late 80's american thrash act (though, maybe influenced by their name) I always thought they sounded qui german... I prefer their fnny side-project Spazztic Blurr though but if your into raw thrash you can very well try Beermacht...

That's exactly what I thought. Heresy so thoroghly outshines Master of Puppets its not even funny. Awesomely underrated album.
