then you're a first impression newb. You can never judge a band that's been going strong for over 25 years by an EP in the 80's.

How is a band that really hasn't existed in it's original form for 25 years still going strong? Seriously. Coasting off the name is not a band. It's bullshit.

Umm it doesn't get much better going beyond that EP either.

Ummm... Yes it does.
DMDS, anyone?

Necrobutcher still plays in the band, Hellhammer still plays in the band. Great, the guitarist died, Atilla who was a vocalist on one of the bands pinnacle releases still does vocals, and Maniac who was an original vocalist was doing vocals before him.

It's not like one guy who wasn't even in the band in the 80's still keeps it running. The name Mayhem has to live on. Mayhem is a name in black metal and a staple in black metal. Mayhem can't die because one person dies, or one person decides to quit the band. How can you not understand this?

It gets a lot better than Deathcrush by the way. Deathcrush while containing a couple good old school black metal songs is a solid EP. It gets a lot better on their new releases in the 90's and 00's.

I like the DMDS songs better on Live in Leipzig to be honest. I was just giving husk a hard time. Wolf's Lair Abyss is possibly the highlight of their catalog for me.

Ahh.
Wolf's Lair is pretty good, but not quite up to DMDS, for me.

Haha, read a book?
You know, I think we're all a little tired of your sad attempts at showing off with your wannabe Studio Guru bullshit.
Nobodies interested, in case you haven't noticed, so take your plastic erudition and fuck off.

And wash your fucking face while you're at it.

You are just trolling; anyroad, Burzum or Emperor mean more to music theory than generic power/prog band X.

Haha I don't know about Burzum, but Emperor devised some pretty technical riffs back in the day.

Burzum might have played a huge role in what BM is today, but I wouldn't call him essential to the evolution of music theory. Bands like Windir, Emperor, Dissection, etc. are prime examples.

riiiiiight, i'm a "wannabe."

I was told by numerous fellow musician friends this is the kind of reaction to be expected. You're attitude is so transparent in it's motivations Pavlov could replace his dog with you, but that would be a step down in intelligence. You'd get confused and eat the bell.

Classical conditioning only works with biologically relevant reflexes, not 'attitudes'.

I think music theory has negatively affected your ability to appreciate music. I really do. In fact, your posts have convinced me that reading a book on music theory is the absolute last thing I should be doing.

Sure thing, pallie.
I could give a rats ass if something follows some rule or theory. As long as it is aesthetically good to mine ears. You're not quite as smart as you pretend to be, are you? Are you able to even formulate your own thoughts? Because you seem to always rely on the thoughts of otheres, i.e., books and now "musician friends".
Give it, and us all, a rest already, because nobody is impressed.

Don't bother... referencing Pavlov (oooh, look at me, aren't I learned?) and confusing conditioning with intuitive reaction is just another failed attempt at coming across as some scary smart intellectual.

I hate it when people try to act all superior because of "lol music theory."
