I'm confused by this thread being in the true metal forum.

Are we supposed to be naming the big four of thrash, the big four of extreme metal or the big four of metal in general?

Coz i think all three of those answers would be different for me.

Anyway...

I made like 15 different lists and then thought "ah, fuck it". You guys named them all anyway.

I've named four, but not these.

Whereas, these bands are not so bad at all... esp Soulfly rules today, the last Machine Head was a killer, only Trivium and BfmV could do better.

Actually, the nickname came from this very forum here which says "Heavy, Prog, Power & True Metal Warriors" and it should not taken so serious like some people here do.

I like nearly everything from HIM, Def Leppard, Guns n Roses, Velvet Revolver, Airbourne, ACDC, Motörhead over Rage, Iced Earth, Primal Fear, Brainstorm, Symphorce, Threshold Dream Theater, Vanden Plas, Hammer Fall, Metallica, Megadeth, In Flames (until the last), Dissection, BfmV, Trivium to Slayer, Kreator, Machine Head, Warbringer, Evile, Six Feet Under, Obituary, Darkthrone, Watain, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Ihsahn, late Soulfly, early Sepultura, Hellhammer, Sodom, Celtic Frost, Tryptikon and so on.

What I don't like is alternative new Metal crap like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Nickelback, Disturbed, Tool, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Heaven Shall Burn, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot and such nonsense.

If we are basing this off my favorite thrash albums than this is what my "Big Four" would be

Megadeth
Metallica
Sepultura (Beneath the Remains and Arise stand up against any thrash album except Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, Master of Puppets, and Ride the Lightning)
Testament

After Ironbound, I would replace Anthrax with either Overkill, Kreator, or Sodom.
