Lots of French love, more than I expected. Everyone forgotten Drudkh?

And there's more to Scandinavia than just Norway, there are some quality acts from Finland: Blood Red Fog, Horna, Calvarium etc.

And Sweden has Silencer and Shining.

Fuck I can't choose

I have little knowledge in terms of history, but musically, I prefer the french and american scenes, though I'm thinking mostly the French.

Autumn Aurora is a wonder to drive around the riverside listening too.

I prefer Blood in our Wells, but Autumn Aurora is a close second.

I mean if I was in the woods though, I would want Forgotten Legends to totally immerse myself in orgasmic bliss.

You can take one album from each scene to a desert island. They are?

Mine:

Scandinavian: - Burzum - Burzum/Aske
Eastern Europe: - Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Central/French: - Mutiilation - Remains of a Ruined, Dead, Cursed Soul
US: Leviathan - Tentacles of Whorror

Scandinavian: - Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk
Eastern Europe: - Kroda - Fimbulvintr
Central/French: - Contra Ignem Fatuum - Detritus
USA: - Weakling - Dead As Dreams

Off the top of my head, if I had longer to pick through my collection I might choose differently. And yes, I own all of the above.

I like that we're talking about Black Metal again in the extreme forum. Been too long!

Well this is just my own personal Desert Island Discs, you understand... not trying to claim these are objectively the best, but:

Scandinavian- Bergtatt by Ulver
E. europe- Blood in Our Wells by Drudkh
C.Europe/France- Si momentthingy circumspicewhatever by DSO
USA- Tricky, maybe Assassins by Nachtmystium

Scandinavia: IX Equilibrium - Emperor
France: Si Momentum - DsO
US: Weakling - Dead As Dreams
E. Europe: Not sure but Root - The Book

Why haven't we talked about Asia? Chthonic, Zuriaake, Empylver, Sigh? They aren't all symphonic/melodic.

Asia: Chthonic - Seediq Bale

Eastern Europe/Romania: Negură Bunget "'n Crugu Bradului"
America/Canada: Gris "Il Était une Forêt..."

Arrgh, completely forgot them! And Tenebrae In Perpetuum...

Also, has anyone heard of a USBM band called Night Conquers Day? Listening to some earlier, great stuff.

Crionics is blackened death metal with industrial influences.
But Eastern Europe is indeed my second favourite scene.

Why are so many picking Ix Equilibrium, or as I like to call it, Emperor's worst album?
