This thread's concept is kind of fuzzy anyway- I'd say Mekong Delta is a relatively obscure thrash band, and are good for this thread.

So yes, everybody, check out Mekong Delta. Music of Erich Zann = Dances of Death= :dio:

No.

well, you could have done something constructive like suggest similar bands that are less well known, but as you didn't, fuck off, I don't care.

They're obscure only if you're fairly new to the thrash thing.
As they were the first ever thrash band to mix their music with classical themes, they gained a well-earned cult status.

One of the best bands on the face of this earth, i dont think they are that obscure but they sure kick ass though, Braking The Silence is one of the best albums i've ever heard.

Yeah, it's awesome. Just found and bought a remastered copy yesterday.

But it's got nothing on Victims of Deception, which is definitely their classic.

Darkness - if you like thrash then you need to hear Death Squad. Pretty much what you think of when you think german thrash.

Devastation - Idolatry is a very heavy and quite fast album. Very Dark Angel like.

Exciter - nobody talks about these guys. Out of all the comebacks as of late, IMO Exciters Thrash Speed Burn wins. Not to mention, old Exciter is also pretty good.

Slaughter - Fuck of Death. 'nuff said.

Violent Force - more good ol' german thrash.

Wargasm - whoever already said these guys becomes my instant friend. Why Play Around? is one of my all time favourite thrash albums.

I just got my first Exciter album yesterday. IT's the self-titled one, apparently some people refer to it as "O.T.T". Its a reissue remastered by Jeff Waters.

But I dunno if i'd call it thrash. More like speed metal with Judas Priest influences. I dunno what their other albums sound like, but the s/t is not very thrashy. Still good though.

Yeah, that was me. As I said I only have their second one "Ugly", but that's also really really good. Havene't been able to find a copy "Why Play Around?".

Be sure to check out Exciters new album, I think you would really enjoy.

Yes, Wargasm is hard to find. I was looking on amazon.ca and I think Why Play Around? was pushing 100 dollars.

Are Holy Moses obscure? They definitely shouldn't be, in fact I think they should replace Destruction in the big 3 German thrashers, since they are way better.

Oh yeah! This band was so awesome. Too bad they went ape shit with their return as D-Age, that New Bomb Energy album or whatever it was called was completely worthless.

Here's another underrated german thrash band: Risk.

Actually I was pretty familiar with the name before this thread, but this is what inspired me to actually listen to them. So, not that obscure, but I'd guess there are plenty of thrash noobs on this site (myself included) that won't know about them

No way. Holy Moses are great, but not as Destruction.

What means that a band is obscure? is Heathen obscure? Mekong Delta? Holy Moses? it all depend of the year one was born and in which side of the Atlantic ocean.

But this thread is for bands that are more or less obscure, but that are not usually mentioned in the forums.

You guys make me miss my old cassette tapes. I had almost all this stuff you guys r talking about and this thread makes me want them back to check this stuff out again. Talking about classic, after reading this thread you guys truly now your roots for heavy metal in general. This stuff was coming out in drones in the 80s. Great discussion. If only i would not have been a dumbass and let a friend of mine have all my early death and thrash cassette albums. Sigh :(
Im so sad now :(

Not really what I'd call obscure though...
