Yes, lame.

But isn't this exactly what Mustaine is trying to show with those spoken lines? That the response was actually lame? I agree that it is lame but purely on purpose and it manages to get the message through. Sure, other lyricists have passed the same message in a much better and more poetic way (the same theme is in some Dream Theater songs in its true artistic form) but I find that this works too.

Agreed. That soundbyte was basically supposed to be Dave's ex-girlfriend trying desperately to sugar-coat how she really felt about him and not hurt his feelings too much (despite not only initiating the break-up, but also confessing to cheating on him). Dave, of course, isn't fooled one bit by her "gentle letdown" so he just hangs up on her after the "I love you like you're my brother" line. Every guy has had to deal with a girl breaking up with or rejecting him, only for her to say, "I still would like to be friends with you, though" (even though what she really means is "let's not be completely at each other's throats"). Dave was simply pointing out how, ahem, lame (and irritating) it is when girls do that, particularly when they really no longer want anything to do with the guy.

Everyone knows how lame and irritating it is when girls do that... Dave just proved that it's lame and irritating when you put it on a metal album also.

Dave's a professional cynic. He's never afraid to make fun of something like this, even if it seems inappropriate for a metal record. Remember the mock court scene in Captive Honor? I'm sure plenty of people would argue that a joke of any kind (let alone a joke as obvious as that one) would have no place on a metal record. But Dave put it on there anyway. He's a risk-taker in every sense of the word.

I'm a big Megadave ;) fan but TWNAH is really a little bit lame. Only Return to Hangar, Dread and the Fugitive Mind, Recipe for Hate...Warhorse and Moto Psycho are at least good Songs. The rest is just too slow and too tame and too soft. The opener and the title track are actually the worst songs on the record. Simply boring riffs. Nothing like...Holy Wars, Symphony of Destruction, Hangar 18, Set the World Afire, Peace Sells..., Washington is Next, Die Dead Enough, Sleepwalker, Blackmail the Universe, Kick the Chair... damn even Cryptic Writings and Risk had more cool and fresh songs like Insomnia, Trust, Almost Honest, Prince of Darkness, Breadline or The Disintegrators.

Heavy/Thrash Metal or not, The world Needs a Hero was in retrospect the lamest Megadeth record so far. And, I maybe make me enemies, but Youthanasia was nearly as boring, with too many midtempo stuff and not enough fast songs (more precisely one fast song).

Yeah, but that doesn't mend the fact that it's still a really aherm lame thing to have a song about.

Ooooh my ex is such a bitch! Oooooooh! Go shoot up Dave!

Two, actually (Victory and The Killing Road).
