Wat? Axis Of Perdition are tons better, although I admit I'm yet to get any of BaN's early stuff. Recent BaN is way overrated.

Well I do like AoP myself very much but there's a reason why The Work... is already a classic but AoP is known by 5 people. Have seen its booklet, or at least visited their site? I don't see that kind of intelligence behind AoP.

And all BAN early releases have their charm, especially Ultima Thulee.

Yeah. I'm just relistening to Taste Our German Steel right now, I've forgotten how good it is. And I just noticed something: Then Came The Silence sounds like the black metal version of a song Helloween would do.

There's nothing awesome about The Work's booklet. They should have printed it properly.

Shit. I should have checked out Watain before, Casus Luciferi is amazing. I love this kind of not-straight forward black metal.

A bit late on this. I haven't listened to much black metal although I do enjoy it as much as other metal genres. Try Sanctus - Aeon Sky. It's pretty damn good.

For those looking for 'different' black metal, give these bands a look-see:

Chaos Moon
Flaskavsae
Furze
Inferi
Inquisition
Katharsis
Light Shall Prevail
Lugubrum
Marblebog
Nuit Noire
Old Wainds
Procer Veneficus
Spektr
Urfaust
Vhernen
Vorak

Nuit Noire? Aren't they the band with utterly ridiculous lyrics about fairies?

Big second on Urfaust! One of the finest bm bands around says I.

Also Nuit Noire and Vhernen and Spektr and Furze are pretty cool. lol

perhaps... but "Somewhere in the Nightpast" is a rather awsome demo imo... after that they switched to some kind of weird fairy punk blackish metal.

Wonder if you guys could help me out here aswell. The only black metal i like is Drudkh, specifically Autumn Aurora. I likes it coz its quite melodic if that helps (especially Sunwheel).

nothing that i liked very much tbh. heard a lot of emperor, not rly into it. Don't like burzum, bathory or Mayhem. Don't rly listen to black metal truth be told, so other than those bands not a lot lol

edit: oh and i rly like agalloch. Not black metal but the guys vocals kinda are, and they sing about nature, snow, and death. And they're pretty atmospheric (something that i like a lot about drudkh).
