I sincerely hope I'm not the only one giggling like mad at this thread. Great to see the time-honoured tradition of Opeth threads causing shitstorms continues even though the Machine Ov Death is gone.

Naw. I'm having fun too.

They WERE a black metal legend, thanks to a single album (IMO), which was ABITNS. The rest of their discography is either fair, or boring. Compared that to each one of Opeth's releases, which have been very much solid in their own way.

And do tell me how Darkthrone is evolving. Cause all I'm hearing is a SLIGHTLY more punkier sound. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same thing.

It's strange how we agree on all this and still have differing opinions on the 'Throne. Maybe it's because I actually like the new stuff. FOAD sounds like it'll be great.

I won't deny this. The song that I heard was pretty good -- much better than the material on The Cult Is Alive.

I think its cute how much some people hate some bands because other people like them a lot

Opeth are loved by a lot of people but they haven't proven themselves to everyone yet. Darkthrone on the other hand is a black metal legend whether you like them or not. And Darkthrone is great these days in my opinion. Talk about evolving your sound? What do you think darkthrone is doing?

They have 3 classic albums, you know what they are called. Darkthrone always had a punk side to things but now it's mostly punk with a slightly raw black metal production. I'd say it's very different than Transilvanian Hunger and such. And they've done nothing to revoke their legendary status at all, they're still legends.

I'd say Opeth isn't evolving at all. Might be just me but all their albums except the acoustic one seem to stick to a formula. It was proggy from the beginning anyway.

Also good to see your a crazy insomniac like me. I'm surprised Opeth threads cause shitstorms. They're fairly inoffensive. And by the way Octavarius, Husker is joking 90% of the time.

Heh. I love how Husker is now the Most Offensive Poster.

I think Opeth made pretty big changes to their sound with each album up until Still Life, where they established the formula that they've been tinkering with ever since. They haven't really been repeating themselves, but their sound hasn't really had a linear evolution over their last 5 albums, just variations.

sometimes, while listening to Opeth, I fantasize that I ride on a pink unicorn in a field of tulips and come across starry-eyed Husker. he blushes and tries to hide his face behind his brilliant, blond hair but I offer him a tulip; he starts giggling and...the opeth song is over, my fantasy is ruined...

Opeth songs never end, there is always one more acoustic section.

You are right about that, one of the more intelligent posts in the thread.

Assuming the 10% percent of his jokes are hilarious, that makes him hilarious 9% of the time.

Husker is kind of like a recurring joke in a tv show or something where he's funny when unexpected but annoying when you see it coming.

It's strange he's accumalated the posts he has when he's not so much of a regular contributor. And he always used to have capitals and punctuation in his sentences.

To think I am the catalyst of all this. This thread rules. The occasional flame war is a good thing. After reading Husker's posts, I can conclude he has some sand in his vagina.

Also, Darkthrone are a killer band. :dio: ABITNS, TH, TCIA :dio:
