Thanks, I know what thrash metal is- it is the genre I listen to the most. But I'm going to give up on this conversation. You're perfectly welcome to think that Death Magnetic is 100% thrash metal if you want to, or as you say, FUCKING HARD FAST AND THRASH METAL. And I won't disagree that there are thrash elements and thrash songs on it, just like as on The System Has Failed and ReliXIV. But like those albums, I still maintain that large portions are not thrash, and are not particularly well written. And thats about it for me. Though:.

1. None of Metallica's albums are "100% Thrash metal"
2. "100% Thrash Metal" albums are boring as batshit.
3. DM is much harder and faster and more complex than The System Has Failed. And Dave was given plenty of credit for its return to form, so it seems pretty petty to throw up a stink when Metallica get similar comments here.
4. This album is every bit as "thrash" as ...Justice, for instance. Bitching that its not a trash album reeks of searching for something to shit on.

UA loses points for Dave recycling the Vortex riff on You'll Never Walk Alone, and the lyrical content on UA is about as laughable as anything from St. Anger. I readily admit that Metallica outdid Megadeth this time around and I'm a Megadeth fanboy.

I agree. I'm not the one who claimed that any album is 100% thrash

They can be. They can also be awesome. You, of course, are welcome to disagree. But my major criticisms of the album have never included "its not 100% thrash."

For the tenth time in this thread, I find The System Has Failed to be an average album, along with United Abominations, new Slayer album, Overkill's ReliXIV, and many other recent albums by old thrash bands. Many people have agreed with me. So can we stop playing the Metallica as a victim card? Why is me finding Death Magnetic average any different than me finding United Abominations average?

First, I will disagree that this album is every bit as thrash as ...Justice. Anyway, my bringing up the thrash was in response to MetalWarrior, who has claimed that its a super thrash album. But thats not why its an average album (though I'm not going to pretend I wouldn't have liked it more if it had more well written thrash riffs, but hey, thats what happens when you're a thrash fan). Its an average album because the songs are overly long , because James' vocals are awful, because some songs are just boring (like My Apocalypse, which is mainly a thrash song), and because I dislike other songs.

But UA gains points because, at its worst, it's still not as boring as DM can be, and at its best it smokes DM big time. Metallica hasn't written a song as good as Washington Is Next in ages. Actually, since Dyers Eve, 20 years ago.

Of course they did, because "That was just your life", "The End of the Line", "All Nightmare Long" or "My Apocalypse" are at least as good as "Washington is Next" or "Sleepwalker" - if not better.

Wasn't the Vortex riff, for that matter, partially stolen from Tornado Of Souls? This would mean that Mustaine stole a riff from a song that stole a riff from another song.

Honestly, Washington is Next, Burnt Ice, and You're Dead are the only songs that aren't forgettable filler on that album. It has some decent moments on it, but the songwriting is quite lackluster. i also grew tired of what I call the "Dave Rant" style of singing he used, where he doesn't even really do vocals, he just talks over the music to get his Fox News viewpoint across. He did that on every other song, and it got annoying fast. The System Has Failed was a much better, and cohesive album overasll.

I guess Eyesore and Stefan left a little too early. It would be interesting to see their responses.

You think Sleepwalker or Never Walk Alone are filler  ? I think they're great songs. There are a few decent tunes besides those too. It's not a great album by any means, or an important one, but it's rather ok and it definitey doesn't bore me the way DM can.

Don't know about Stefan, but Eyesore would probably write long rants about how everybody is eager to slander Metallica because it's trendy to do that and we're all mindless drones for doing it blabla.
