If only Indiana Jones were here. He'd know the true definition of nu metal, and fight Nazis too.

In conclusion: In Flames suck.

So... the new Darkane is really great. I wonder who'll be reviewing it.

I think numetal is synonymous(SP?) to "Bad+popular metal" for some people and that won't ever change.

Indeed. It's like the pot luck genre where everyone tosses random bands. Genre labelling is a pain in the ass, but nu-metal has somehow become this huge vague and blurry monster where no one seems to know what it really is.

And now for something completely different: I agree 100%.

I like the Non-Human Level more than the new Darkane, their weird Meshuggah style breakdowns kinda spoil their melodeath flow

I'd put a  there, but that would be dishonest.

Definitely. It sounds basically like Rusted Angel, but with better songwriting. The cover art is ridiculous, though.

I did like Insanity, though. It was a real attempt to experiment. Expanding Senses was... a huge misstep. To say the least.

hey, lets get REALLY crazy and start talking about the album this thread is for!

That being said, did anyone find anything redeeming from the album? Again, I thought the instrumentals were stale but maybe someone else found some riffs or patterns or lyrics or anything worth mentioning. if you did, please make a post about it.

I've only listened to it once

the other time was when my winamp randomed the song Come Clarity, and then in a spurt of rage at having my ears desecrated with such terrible music I deleted it from my computer

I think we've generally been talking about this album/band the whole time. Yes, I really like this album. It's the best post Clayman album they've done. It is NOT old In Flames, but unlike Reroute To Remain and Soundtrack To Your Escape, there are many elements taken from that old school In Flames sound. In the history of In Flames, this album fits better after Clayman, it would seem more natural there.

I think all the songs on this album range from good to great with the exception of "Come Clarity," which is a good song, but it tests my patience occassionally. Some times I love it, some times I just can't listen to it. It's a mood song, I guess. Other than that, I think this album kicks ass!

Some of the choruses were fairly catchy. I do agree with Eyesore that it's the best album since Clayman, though that's not saying a whole lot.

Now this irritates me. Good cover:

Bad cover:

Apparently the bottom one is going to be the actual cover! What the fuck? The top one is waaaaaaaay better!

Top 1 reminds me of Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama's artwork, but better.

Bottom reminds me of an unifinished sketch my friend would draw.

it seems that bands like tribal-esque symbols on their covers now-adays. I bet if the record for whatever respective band hits big that they will use it as their insignia.

anders lyrics...damn him! one of my least favorite songs, mainly because of this, is Episode 666. I hated it because he just kept repeating "this is episode 666". this was obviously an attempt to make it catchy. I love that the beginnings of selling out they try to make catchy lyrics, but anders isnt too good at it, so he just says the same thing 457 times. i guess that works too, but it is laughingly obvious. Thats our Anders!

Both covers suck. Probably as much as the music is going to.

If you take away Eyesore's posts and Dead Machine's posts, this thread would be a page long :P

Back to the thread topic, I think Come Clarity blows away Sountrack To Your Escape. Its up there with Clayman. Of course, this is my opinion (which can't be wrong because its an OPINION). Your opinion may differ, but if you want to show your age and try to tell me that mine is wrong, then go ahead.
