What's it like? I should probably get it, but I'm a little short of money as I'm saving for a new guitar.

Sikth meets Cryptopsy meets Blut Aus Nord (ambient bm).

It's so intense I still didn't get all of it after a lot of listens. Amazing I say. Can't really compare it to Si Monvmentvm, this is different.

Album of the year? Hells yes.

I was supposed to get this last tuesday at the Nunslaughter gig at Lahti, but Northern Heritage got the copies late. So i drank all my money and it's still a week 'til payday. Dang!

Heh heh, I knew this thread was going to be about DSO...sounds like an interesting release. I've still yet to track down SMRC, though, even though I've been looking for it for months, and I probably won't get this until I have it. If I find this, though...what's it called? no mention yet in this thread...

The new album is Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum. I'm not liking it as much as SMRC. I'll have to listen to it couple more times through.

Edit: Posting late is what happens when you have so many tabs open.

I'll probably rustle up some dough to get it, but the mention of tech-death worries me. I don't think Blackened death usually works to well, and generally comes off a bit samey. How big is the death influence?

There isn't much "death" in the actual music, its just got dissonant, weird riffs that remind me of Gorguts or The Dillinger Escape Plan... and really crazy drumming (that's imo a little too loud >_<)

I haven't heard the new one yet, but judging by the direction they were taking the music on parts of Kenose, i'd say there's no worry of DsO going Behemoth or anything.

Urgh, agreed. The drums are way too loud. :(

There's nothing death metally about this album. It's %100 black but uses technicality and odd guitar playing like it was never done before.
Or at least I haven't heard of.

Really liking this one so far. :omfg: ...Hopefully I'll have more time to listen to it tomorrow.

I do agree that the drums seem a bit loud, but it's a minor complaint.

I love fucked up sounding riffs. :]

SMRC didn't really have fucked up sounding riffs, just kick-ass Black Metal all the way through. When I hear "fucked up sounding riffs," I'm assuming this sounds more like Kénôse than SMRC?

Yup. Kenose but like 3 times weirder. Other than Aspa's voice and the tone of the guitars I can't really find much similarity between this and SMRC.
