So what do you guys consider the best technical death albums? Everyone's definition of tech-death varies but I'm just looking for some stuff to listen to. I'm thinking (in some kind of order):

Crytopsy - None So Vile
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve
Atheist - Piece of Time
Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt

hmm, Martyr - Warp Zone and Capharnaum - Fractured are probably the death metal albums i enjoy most for their musicianship. i like other stuff that could be considered tech death like Arsis, Immolation, !T.O.O.H!, and Stargazer more than those two, but for reasons other than their tech deathyness.

Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Death - Symbolic
Suffocation - Pierced From Within

would Decapitated's Winds Of Creation be considered tech-death? Cause I would throw it either there or in brutal death. If so, thats up there too.

If you haven't, you need to listen to "Clouded" off this album.

Demilich-Nespithe

Available for free on the internet... One of the most unique metal albums.

Yet Obscura got a terrible review here.....one of the only times I'd say this site is dead wrong.

Not Obscura... "from wisdom to hate", the worst review of the site. By far.

cynic - focus

death- symbolic/individual thought patterns/sound of perseverance (all slay)

both necrophagist albums.

decrepit birth - diminishing between worlds.

i look at cryptopsy's none so vile as a brutal death masterpiece more so than technical. however and then you'll beg is brilliant tech death even if the vocals are shit (those riffs are just mind numbing)

you cant really go wrong with the genre. i look at it as if you have the musical chops to pull it off you probably have one hell of a refined taste in music.

I prefer Obscura to From Wisdom to Hate- I actually don't have any of the others :omfg:

Necrophagist don't do too much for me... technical, yes, but they sound a bit soulless.

My vote would probably go for Malleus Malificarum

That'd be my sole complaint about 'phagist. It's so good but just so mechanical.
