Darkestrah's new album is almost out, just a few days more. I've great expectations about it after hearing the title song on their MySpace, in the middle there's a violin melody that's very reminiscent of their last album, Epos. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Darkspace III is going to be out in May 30th and Nyktalgia's Peisitanathos is already out, May 1st, but I haven't had the opportunity to hear them.

May is going to be a hell of month :dio: Alex, Zad and Mint, you have work to do :)

I'm already on the Nyktalgia. I'll give the others a go if noone wants them.

It should be interesting to hear your thoughts on Peisithanatos

Nyktalgia is Depressive Black Metal, the closest comparison would be Abyssic Hate. Very melodic, excellent tortured vocals. The songs are long, 10+ min.

Describing Darkspace is more difficult, they mix some very strong ambient keyboards & sounds, minimalist, very raw on some parts. It took me several spins and the right mood to finally starting to comprehend their music. Highly recommended, especially their first album, Darkspace I.

I think you'll like Nyktalgia, give it a try, the anguish the music projects is amazing.

I will. Darkspace sounds even more interesting, from your description. I'll wait for more appropiate wheather though, I discovered I can hardly listen to black metal when it's sunny and warm and nice like it is now.

the new Nyktalgia is awsome!

as for the new Darkspace... as i understand it only 500 copies will be printed, and they will be sold out the within a few hours if not minutes - just like last time (i was lucky to get the original second album, he he). Maybe it will be re-released later just as the older albums were

Nah, it will also be released as a normal slipcase too. That one shouldn't bee too hard to get.

yeah.. i was just about to write about it - just read it on their label's homepage. I build my first assumption on the MA profile.
I have ambivalent feellings towards this, about buying the limited edition, i mean. Normally i don't give a crap about limited cd editions... but this is Darkspace!!! I think the limited edition this time around will be fairly easy to get since the unlimited version will be released at the same time across the globe, while the limited only will be sold through sound-cave.com (probably at a higher price)... on the other hand it doesn't matter that much.

I found the first Nyktalgia to be sort of pedestrian. It has a lot of nice elements, but i lacks some overall creativity and at times it is inspired by other bands to the point of rip-off.

I love Darkspace. Darkspace I is one of the best black metal records to come out in recent years. It's slightly electronica oriented approach to black metal ambience is stellar. I'll be sure to pick up Darkspace III as soon as it is released. Not the limited one of course. Limitations are gay.

... you've just put up a limitation for yourself - thus you're also gay

well, to me it's just a matter of the price, and weither or not sound-cave will have some other neat stuff that i can buy at the same time in order to safe some money.

.. but yeah, the Darkspace I is a really nice record, one of da best. Heard Darkspace II the other day, it still isn't that impressive to me, despite getting better reviews than the first (on MA).

:P Not me.. The limitation. I am only gay somtimes... When I see a really really beautiful man, like you.. But that only happens a few times a day..

I don't have Darkspace II on hard copy. Only on mp3's which makes me listen to it much less frequently. As I remember I also think I is far superior. When III comes out I might pick up II while I'm at it. Soundcave generally have a pretty decent selcetion, so it should be possible to throw a few records on the pile.

When it comes to limitations I just don't want to pay more for a limited edition unless there is some really nice extras or something. The whole limitation thing doesn't really mean anything to me and frankly I find it a little stupid. The record doesn't get better just becuase some guy wrote 237/500 on the back of the cover.

yeah, i am a rather hot genetical superior alpha male :)

Well, yeah, limited editions may be rather stupid and redundant, and gay at times.. like when Kanwulf (Nargaroth) released the limited Semper Fidelis box (99 copies), containing a t-shirt on which Kanwulf had ejaculated (can you imaging that idiot wanking 99 times in a row in order to make 99 retarded fans happy? :D... and that's not even the gayest thing about the box)

But generally speaking limitations are a question of money. New and smaller bands in the underground are forced to limit their albums no matter what. It's not free to press cd's, tapes, or vinyls. Most limited stuff get re-released if enough ppl want it. I know a guy who has his own label, very very small, and he is supposed to release some 7''s for some danish bands, and practically speaking he won't be earning any money, neither will the bands, cuz it is too expensive to get them pressed (like 4-5€ per copy), and he can't sell them for a whole lot.. so you see, pressing unlimited amounts is not economical wise. But some bands brags more about the limitation than others... of course if your own a label called Nuclear Blast you don't need to limit yourself.
Also know some guys who have a crappy band but want's to be professionel, but even they released limited 7'' and cd's at first...

bla bla bla... bla bla bla...
