I picked up TWNAH yesterday, have listened to it once, and like it. Sure, it's no RIP pt 2, but still an OK album.

I thought (the songs I heard from) System Has Failed were better, though.

System Has Failed is much better!

One thing I don't understand though is that the album was worse than Load, and yet Megadeth seems to take less flack for it than Metallica did with Load. Why is that so?

I think that has to do with the fact that metallica's fan base is much bigger than Megadeth's. You will also find more people talking about metallica than Megadeth. So, it is pretty obvious that there will be a greater response, whether praise or criticism for a metallica album.

Guess I'm late, but I said "miss". When I listened to this album I felt like just about every step they took forward was soon followed by two steps backward. In the end, I'm not sure whether they really moved forwards or backwards, but they definately did move away from their previous couple albums (though I never heard "Risk" so I can't comment too much on that).

I like less than half of the album, and some of what I like on it I don't think is especially good (it's never great - save for Al's solo in DAtFM). Dave pretty much forgot what a riff is or how to write a good one, or he simply didn't care to, I guess. And I think when ithis album is at its worst, it's downright awful.

I was never too into Metallica, so I'm not sue what I think of recent comments and comparisons. What Dead Machine was talking about regarding sales and such though is accurate.

I'm now convinced Metallica could put out an album of them farting into jars for 75 minutes and it would go platinum in the 1st week.
