Here is an album that came out of nowhere and impressed me a great deal. For those not in the know, they are a Slamming Death band from SD, California. I bought there past cd, Manic Thoughts of Perverse Mutilation back when it came out, but never really listened to it, only skimming for funny samples which there are only a few. Fast forward to the present and a friend recommends their newest to me since I complained about a lack of solos in brutal/slam death and I go out and get their newest.
From the get go this cd makes an impression with a really tight and evil atmosphere, and an improved drum sound. There are few samples this time and they are of the horror variety. The whole album has this odd hook to it, the combination of the deep gutteral vox, the fantastic instrumentation by the musicians, and the great solos which become a highlight of the album. The cd is very precise yet chaotic. It is not centred around the slam but instead incorperates it well, while the intensive furries and runs are awesome. Overall I'm very pleased with this album, a good purchase and one I'd recommend for those fond of the genre. Of note is the Interlude, probably the longest song on the cd, it reminds me of an evil Death or Sceptic, and is quite nice.
The only complaint I have is the length of the album, its roughly 26 minutes which literally fly by, luckily since the songwriting is so good. Check it out!
