I'm not sure I've ever heard a successful fusion of the two schools of black metal and sludge. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what band, can combine the heaviness of sludge with the darkness of black metal?

Cerebral Fix.

Thrash with BM vocals and doom/sludge metal mixed in, the playing is fast, but it has that old school metal sense of melody and simplicity.

"British Steel" meets Immortal meets Black Sabbath meets King Diamond.

Maybe Fleshpress?

Perhaps also Goatwhore.

Aside from that, not much springs to mind. If you want Black metal with some sludgy influences, you could try the last Twilight album, which has a heavy ISIS streak. Also maybe the Black Anvil record I am putting up for review today.

I suppose you could try Kriegs Blue Miasma. Has a bit of a sludgy vibe in places.

Was going to be my reccomendation

I've heard them called Screamo before, but I think it's much closer to a Black Metal/Sludge mix.

Well I guess I need to hear celeste just to understand how someone could confuse screamo for black/sludge.
