I'm guessing the New York style is the more stomping kinda death metal. More into that, personally.

I dunno dude, Here In After, Close to a World Below, Unholy Cult (pretty much just say all of Immolation's albums really), Effigy Of The Forgotten, and Pierced From Within. All amazing albums. Florida definitely has the most bands but Immolation > pretty much everything else anyways so yeah

I'm from Florida, so fuck New York's poser DM scene. Those clowns don't know what the fuck religious oppression is about. I lived in a city with the most churches per capita in the world. Also, dozens of occultnik shops, metal heads everywhere and in general a lot of people that think religion sucks, if only for because it prevents the bars from being open on Sunday.

Mortician are NYDM... unless you are using that term to describe something other than DM which happens to be from New York (e.g. the brutal scene around Immo, Suffo, Incantation etc.). In which case that's even crazier!

I do enjoy Mortician... mainly because I am an obssessive horror film nerd. I can't understand thinking they are a better band than, say Immolation, though.

Me as well man, I love the genre, but those vocals were just ridiculous. Perhaps that is why people like it though.

A bit random, but myself being the massive creature feature fan and foreign film buff, did you check out The Host? Pure awesomeness directed by the best in korea imo. That movie came up on a "best films of the last century list", that is what reminded me of it.

Haven't seen The Host actually. I went a bit overkill on East Asian horror and started not wanting to watch any more after a while. But yeah, I think I could get back into it again so i'll look out for it...

Yeah its nothing like normal asian horror at all dude no worries about that. Plenty of humor and just creature feature awesomeness.
