The only thing that really pisses me off about this, is that the packaging doesn't make it clear that it's a re-recording. I mean, it has a new title, and new art.

Which means a whole lot of perfectly innocent young thrash fans, just learning the greatness of Exodus, will probably mistake it for a brand new album and buy it for that reason, and end up feeling ripped off.

Damn record company sneakiness.

 or they could just look at the tracklist and realize its the same as bonded by blood.

Just heard the tracks they posted on MySpace.

It's Lesson in Violence and Metal Command.

And well...I'm kinda unimpressed. The recordings sound fine, sure. But I do miss Balloff's voice on these tracks, even though Dukes does a fine job. And the old recordings of these songs really have a certain charm....and well...whatever.

Now I know I don't need to buy it.

The solos do seem improved though.

Or the cover... it's the exact same concept as the original, with a different color scheme...
I'll agree with those that said this is pointless. As was said, the originals are a snapshot in time and cannot be duplicated, they should leave a masterpiece well alone.
And Baloff's blood-crazed screams were the perfect match for the music.

So are some whores, but that doesn't change the fact that you get the clap after.

I love you?

I also listened to the two tracks on MySpace- they both sound very good, with definitely improved lead guitar sound and a meatier production, but still, they do lack the fun intensity and charm of Bonded by Blood and Baloff's vocals too, of course, though Duke does a good job. But I mean, I already own Bonded by Blood- I don't see why I would buy this, even if it only is 13 bucks.

Yeah i've just listened to both songs, they sound great actually no surprise here the songs have always been great but still cant touch the originals Balloff was a fucking maniac on those songs, if they wanted to atract new fans , they should have just released a live album instead otherwise this totally unnecesary.

You know, this re-recording is totally unneccessary. Futhermore, I object to the way it was done. Gamma Ray had the right idea when they released Blast from the Past. They did it as a greatest hits, and included some re-recordings of old songs, but they premised it under the guise of a "Greatest hits." They didnt have the audacity or stupidity to think that they could just re-release their old albums as re-recordings. This Exodus move, is just plain retarded.

I only listned to it once so far when it first got leaked, and even though I haven't feelt the need to listen to it again I didn't think it was that bad. I for one don't really mind diffrent versions of great songs. But the thrash-attitude from the 80s can never be re-capured again, by new bands or old classic thrashers as Exodus. So in that aspect the original album can never be toped or replaced. But I don't think that was what they where going for. It was a tribute to Baloff and who ever doesn't like it don't have to listen to it. And if it doesn't tickle my fancy after a few more listen I might just do that.
