it sounds kind of generic at first, but then when i listened to the whole thing i was like "damn, they nailed that one". then again the black metal that appeals to me is melodic black metal taht most other people think is really average

The "whole thing" as in the whole album? I really only like "symphonic" or "melodic" black metal so maybe I'll delve further.

No, but they aren't Leviathan, either.

This is pretty cool. Not many blastbeatz to speak of, but this is some good stuff.

Musicianship? In my Black Metal?

Another thing I noticed is that the vocals really aren't characteristic of Black Metal. They sound closer to Hardcore vocals than Black Metal.

It's like it has just enough in common with Black Metal to be able to be called that. There are a lot of non-Black Metal elements here.

Holy shit this is good. I haven't been so amazed by a black metal album since Negura Bunget-OM.

Molec Codices is a cool song. So I think I like this better than Leviathan, Darkthrone, Blut Aus Nord or any of your other standard black metal bands. Melodies and good production go a long way.

Darkthrone is the only "standard" black metal band you listed. Jesus, Blut Aus Nord are post-black with industrial elements, how is that standard?

Everybody likes them. Doesn't that make them standard? I couldn't think of anything to compare them to.
