Really! I mean let's make a short summary.
new
Anata, Spawn Of Possession, Suffocation, Deicide, Psycroptic, Decapitated, Krisiun, Zyklon, Kalmah, Misery Index, Neglected Fields, Atheretic, Vader, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, Belphegor, Into Eternity, Insomnium etc..
And then we got new great albums coming out soon like
Arsis, Visceral Bleeding, Decrepit Birth, Augury etc..

It's going to be hard to pick a number one..

Btw check out this video by Visceral Bleeding..

Yeah, I said it since last year, 2006 will be a death metal year! There was just too much power in 2005, it was DM's turn.

I'll add a few to your list: Grave, Dismember, Unleashed (this one slays supreme), Lividity, Kataklysm, Necrophobic, God Dethroned, Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Regurgitate, Canopy, Sinister (my number 1 DM album for 2006!), Terrorizer, Illdisposed, Torture Killer and many many more, most of them being quite good. And don't forget there's a Martyr album on the way.

Btw, I'm seeing a death metal festival 2 days from now, Parricide and other cool bands opening for the mighty Sinister, I'm expecting a brutal night.

Indeed a great death year. My money is on Insomnuim right now, but that may change before we celebrate another new year.

Man, I haven't listened to much death metal at all this year. All I've heard is the new Zyklon, Kataklysm, Into Eternity, and Canopy. I already pre-ordered the new Arsis (an obvious blind buy), but I need more. I have some searching to do.

I guess my favourite DM so far has been the new Decapitated. I've also enjoyed Napalm Death, Suffocation, Skinless and Daath, so maybe that would be my top 5 so far... Also Extreme Noise Terror (are they DM nowadays? sounds it to me) and Terrorizer are in the mix. I don't have my ear as far into the DM world as others here.

Nice video btw.

My favourites from this are probably the new Suffocation, Skinless, Cannibal Corpse and Decapitated. Haven't heard much else.

Thy Disease and Deranged also put out solid releases. Bile killed with a deathgrind masterpiece, and Daemon surprised me with an album that had me thinking back to Impure's 2004 release (drool).

Azarath JUST put one out last month, and you KNOW it'll be the shit. Disappointed with the new Vader? Sorry to see Trauma release their first sub-par album? Watch Azarath bring the Polish DM scene back to glory.

The most important album of the year was Ares Kingdom's Return to Dust. No doubt in my heart on that one.

Angelcorpse reforming is the best thing to happen to DM in years.

I am not disappointed with the new Vader.

I heard of Spawn Of Possession. Isn't it Corpsegrinder's sideproject? I also heard that they were melodic death metal....

Nope, they are not melodic death and are not Corpse's sideproject.. They play top notch technical death metal..
