I can't speak for Jaden, but I adore the way they did it on Lifescapes, that echo effect.

The drumming on that song is sick!! The fills are insane!!

I've just listened to the first song and I really enjoyed it but the drums sound like junk. The drummer is quite good but the snare has a really bizarre sound and it cranked way to high.

A bizarre sound? Sounds rather normal to me. Those tracks are demos, though, not the final versions that'll appear on the album.

Well I guess it wasn't that bizarre, I just meant I didn't like the sound of it. Seems to overpowering and doesn't fit with the style of music. But I'm a drummer so I'm overly picky about that kind of thing.

Well, they're all of varying quality and mix. They were recorded at different times throughout 2004 so the sound isn't consistent.

The guitarist definitely has a way with a downtempo groove... 8)

I'm not really that keen on the vocals, although that "echo" effect J + CU pointed out is actually pretty cool. I think where I don't like them is mainly due to where they're placed in the mix on some songs.

I agree with EMF about the 90s feel, but this doesn't necessarily bother me.

Criticisms: Some of the clean vocals need more character, and a lot of the breakdowns into melodic interludes sound kinda laboured, which is odd considering how the dude plays some mean classical guitar as well.

Yeah, the vocals are my biggest complaint. The singer they have is actually from Finland. How he ended up in Arizona is beyond me, I guess he's good friends Children Of Bodom, but anyway, he loves that sort of vocal approach and apparently he's not to keen on actually singing so the clean vocals you hear are vocals that my friend, Paul (the drummer), added after the fact. He's a good vocalist, but he didn't put much into the vocals I don't think considering they were demos.

You should hear some of his solo stuff. Man, so talented. He has this tribute song to Corrosion Of Conformity and it sounds like something COC would do, but it sounds better than most of what they've released over the past few albums.

Well, I'm sad to say that Slaves For Scores have broken up. As I mentioned, they were my friend's band. I thought they were going to go somewhere, but something happened and they've decided to break up. Last year Ralph Santolla (Deicide, Iced Earth, Sebastian Bach) was scheduled to come out and record a demo for them to shop around, then Paul (my friend, the drummer) broke his foot pretty bad and that got put on hold (bad enough that he needed metal plates and screws to fix it). It took him about 6 months to heal and recently they'd done some shows, recorded some new songs and were going to release Inertia, their first full-length. Unfortunately that won't happen.

I'm sad. They were a killer band!!

Anyway, because of this they've offered up some high-quality recordings of 15 songs that they recorded for Inertia. They all weren't going to be put on the album so it's cool to have them, plus these versions are the best recordings they had of the songs, better than what the band sent me and better than the demo versions previously on their website, so that's cool.

They were excellent and my friend is a phenomenal drummer, Gene Hoglan phenomenal! Just listen to "Blood-Soaked Angel." Lots of good stuff here, you should definitely download it. The tracklisting is as follows:

01 Blood-Soaked Angel
02 Spreading
03 Resist The Call
04 Lifescapes
05 My Salvation
06 In Search Of...
07 Violent Faith
08 Inertia
09 Adversary And The Antidote
10 New Strength
11 Indoctrinated In Flames
12 Dwell On (Better Off Lying Dead)
13 Brand New Disease *
14 Stay Hateful *
15 Love Lays In Waste *

* Recently recorded demos.

There's also a retrospective video they put together and some album artwork, which is not mine. Booo. :( Hehe.

DOWNLOAD INERTIA HERE!!

This is the artwork I did for the album:

Anyway, I put the links here figuring that most people would be more inclined to listen to them if they just had to click a link here instead of going to the site and navigating there. I know that's not much work at all, but 2 seconds on a computer is a loooooooong time for some people!!! =)

you kid, but that's true in my case.

now downloading...

I wasn't kidding. Haha. I get calls at work from store clerks saying their register is running slow, they'll be like, "It takes like 5 seconds for a sale to cash out!" Hahaha! WTF? 5 seconds? You kidding? So yeah, that's why I link songs here. Hehe.

I hope you dig the band.
