Try the aforementioned "Dark Medieval Times", "The Shadowthrone", "Nemesis Divina",and "The Forest is my Throne". those are all great classic Black Metal albums. "Rebel Extravanganza" is excellent, IMO, but has a different sound. "Volcano" is allright, but not essential. I haven't heard the newest one so I can't offer an opinion.

That's my exact same feeling thowards Satyricon.

I'll join the club, then.
As for the new album... So far I've managed to listen to the first four tracks, and they all bore the fuck out of me. When the most entertaining moment is shouting along "Now! Diabolical!" (that's the chorus of the title track for ya), you know there's something wrong. It sounds like they wanted to make an album full of Fuel for Hatred's, but failed big time. At least that one was catchy, this stuff is the aural sublimation of blandness.

Try the other songs, i think they get better as they go along. Not that much better, but better.

Crap. Every other album they've done has good stuff on it, this is just bad. Although KING is growing on me, but when all the other tracks sound just like it...

Yeah, this seems to be the general consensus; I just didn't have that much time, and honestly, I'd rather listen to something else given the chance. But I need to finish to listen to this one, so at least I can determine how thankful I should be not to have wasted money on it ;)

Dammit man, sorry for you. I know the feeling (yes, I've been tricked into buying stuff that turned out to be complete crap too...).
