In all fairness, Dimmu didn't want to do the Stormblast re-record. Nuclear Blast insisted on it since it's the only Dimmu album that wasn't on the label. I guess just buying the rights for a re-release wasn't possible for whatever reason.
I hadn't heardthat before, i was under the impression it was the bands idea.
Either way they could have done something to the effect of no making the new version suck
